LED Light bulbs
« on: August 01, 2022, 01:43:38 PM »
Y'all might find this interesting or possibly scarry. LED bulbs that fit regular lamp sockets can be a fire hazard. Just above the metal screwin section is a section that houses the electronics to operate the LED Bulb. Uh Oh.... That section is prone to catch fire and blow out the side and it can cause a fire. I use them in some of my lamps and light fixtures but I never leave any of them turned on when I leave the house. OK, OK, the one's on the porch get left on when I'm away from the house at night. Now, here is something I read about a while back. In other countries, those LED bulbs have extra circuitry that makes them operate a little less efficiently and the bulbs damned near never burn out. They aren't allowed to be sold in the US because somebody got into somebody else's pocket and wanted them to not last forever. Our LED bulbs run a bit hotter and they need to be replaced more often. Ain't that a BITCH. :faint:
