The second Wednesday of each month there is a ham radio breakfast in NY state that MrsMac and I go to. Most of the folks there are from NY while a few of us are from the free state of PA. One of the things I always leave with is the citizens of NY live in a totalitarian state. In short, you can't do nothing!
The state controls everyone's lives and you get to be taxed at a high rate for the privilege of living in a nanny state.
At these gathering's conversation always drifts towards "the new law" de jour that affects their liberty. Some items on this months discussions were:
* Can't burn trash in urban or rural locations anymore,
* New bill in the states assembly that if you want to buy a firearm you have to provide 3-years of social
media posts,
* Prohibiting the use of anti scanning devises for your vehicle license plate (s),
* Implementing no burn days for folks that have wood stoves and or fireplaces,
the list goes on and on and is added too each month we attend the breakfast.
We love seeing the people but always drive away discussing the newest law or restriction and breath a sigh of relief as we reenter into PA.

And that's why there's a massive exodus from the Empire State. The taxes are outrageous, and the political leaning to the left makes it unappealing to freedom loving individuals. New York politicians will soon be the highest paid part-time State politicians in the U.S. And now that all branches of the government are controlled by Democrats it'll be interesting to see how far left they will go. I truly look forward to the day that I see the Empire State in my rearview mirror, 8 months and counting.

Governor Cuomo just said that people are leaving NY State because of the weather.

Start counting and keep us in the know. I truly hope you make it. If you have to pass through New Jersey it would be safest to FEDEX your guns.

Dare you to stop at the border and moon them.
Problem with those yankees is they will move south and west to good states and try to turn it in to NY. Look at whats happening in Va. Everything east of Bull Run and north of the Rappahannock river has turned into yankee territory.
But we will surely hold them at the James.

I am much happier that I got the hell out of that state 5 years ago when I had an opportunity. When the SAFE act was passed in the dark, I knew the end was near. After living in the state for over 50 years, it had become a true disappointment to have to tell people where I was from when travelling...
