Sorry to see him go. Glad his seat in the Senate is open. Never did trust the guy. He just seemed a bit hinkey to me. Now I understand why.

Well he did one good thing, he showed the world how hard it is to sink an American Aircraft Carrier. :sarcasm:NOT

McCain was a first class asshole. Sarah Palin, his running mate in the 2008 election was excluded from his funeral: https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/08/29/sarah-palin-loyal-running-mate-excluded-from-john-mccains-funeral/ (https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/08/29/sarah-palin-loyal-running-mate-excluded-from-john-mccains-funeral/) I say good riddance to bad rubbish. He was a back stabbing traitor to the end.

Don't worry guys he left Meghan McCain to carry his ideology onwards. We can trust her, she's a Republican! :suicide:

I finally found it, the documentary film of the Forrestall fire. I had seen it before but when I first looked for it when McCain died it wasn't there.
The news recently said a bomb was accidentally dropped and that was what started the fire. If that was true there would be no McCain. He would have went boom.
What happened was he fired a zuni rocket. The rocket firing starts a 3:30. When watching it ask yourself "How did he get to safety so quickly?"

P.S. Read the comments too.

this comes up every time someone wants to jab McCain.
he didn't drop a bomb on the deck.
he didn't fire a rocket.
his aircraft was hit during his pre-flight check by the rocket and it ripped open the fuel cell. McCain employed a well known military maneuver - he 'ran like hell itself was chasing me'.
the rocket was fired from an F-4 and McCain was in an A-4. he wanted of be a fighter pilot but didn't have the scores - he became a bomber pilot.
at least that is what the USN reported.
I'm no friend of McCain but i do have a fondness for the truth of things.
I suppose several hundred people could be involved in a multi-decade coverup.

On the rocket firing, I stand corrected
-
I also have a fondness for the truth and anyone who knows anything about military aircraft knows the static line is removed only after the engine is running. The arming switch is not switched on during launch. You can't get power to the munition to fire until that switch is turned on. That means something else was the cause of the firing of the rocket.
This video enplanes it better than I can.

i agree JoJo, the safety's are there for a reason.
the USN reported the zuni rocket was faulty - the whole design. they were replaced.
similar problem to the rocket pods used on helicopters and jets during the same time period.
the firing mechanism tended to malfunction at weird times and with unexpected results. some would fire the entire pod at once, some wouldn't fire at all - making the pilot try and land with live ordnance.
the rocket pods, chaff rockets and the zuni were the same design.
this wasn't a miss-fire but still a problem with the zuni's.

It sounds like McCain's funeral had more to do with Trump being President than John McCain being put in the ground :zombie: :lmfao:

yeah, McCain's funeral was definitely a political event. The media went out of their way to say it was planned in advance by McCain.

I'll bet Trump lost as much sleep over his death and not being invited to the funeral as I did
-
Interesting discussion. Grizz shares my sentiment, "I'll bet Trump lost as much sleep over his death and not being invited to the funeral as I did"
Although I have not been a McCain supporter since 2008-ish I did have respect for what he accomplished in his life and the many times he dodged death.
Although I have been busier than a one armed paper hanger of late, the boob tube last week was dominated with funerals. :vomit:
-
I am not anti McCain by any stretch, but the media coverage this week was ridiculous. I respect many of the things he went through in his life, but also see many shortcomings in who he was as a senator. The borderline canonization by the media has made me sick. I dont believe in talking bad about the dead, but I also dont believe in turning the recently deceased into something better than they were.
Just my opinion.

Your opinion and at least one other.
