Carol Roth is one of the six economist/analysts I follow. Her commentary is usually conservative. Not conservative politically but financially. So when Roth writes an article like this one, we should all take notice.
Family meetings have long been a practice for wealthy families like the Rockefellers (who hold them twice a year). But with more complex issues facing families that affect family members? time, money, and wishes, it is a good practice for every family to undertake, regardless of their wealth.

When ever I had a big project ahead of me at West Marine, I would always hold a meeting with my team to outline challenges that might hinder the project getting bogged down. We then would come up with a menu to handle those challenges; Consequently, I agree with her assessment and suggestion. Maybe a plan will not survive the first salvo, however, a plan will give the decision makers an outline of where to go.
