FDA trying to stop OTC animal/livestock antibiotics
« on: February 01, 2014, 04:57:13 AM »
I know many of you stock over-the-counter antibiotics from feed stores.  This could be coming to an end.

Call me paranoid, but could this be directly aimed at prepper types?  :tinfoil:

I am the biggest  :tinfoil: guy of them all and do not believe it is geared towards preppers. Feeding farm critters antibiotics is a big business and IMO not good for the end user which is you and I.

The bummer though would be that, my neighbor wouldn't be able to go down to the local Tractor Supply and buy antibiotics for a sick farm critter when needed. He would have to call the vet, who may or may-not come out and then be charged $100- for the visit in order to get a $5- vile of X antibiotic.

Yeah, I suspect this is just another 'screw you' towards that small American farmer.. Whether it be hand milking, selling eggs or roadside stands the FDA has always been looking for another way to fuck small producers.

Like so much else of the new food regulations, the problem lies with the big producers like Perdue, but the people the regulations actually affect (and screw) are the little people.  The new FSMA regulations suck, even with the exception for small farmers.  The goal of this part of the legislation is to stop the prophylactic use of antibiotics that is endemic to Big Ag, and to the medium-size farmers who sell to the big producers like Land O'Lakes.
