1) "It's to give us better tools to fight the war on terror": The gubment does not want to win the war on terror, it wants to perpetuate it. Hmmmm, an endless income stream with a vague boogey-man as the enemy and no clear time horizon for victory. "Let's retire forever, BEOTCH!"
2) "It's for the children": Yeah, great excuse to indoctrinate them and take all the rights away from the rest of us. Spoiler Alert: The gubment doesn't give a shit about your children. In my mind all human life is precious, whether you are 2 weeks or 102 years old.
3) "It's for your protection": Translation; you're phucked! Enough said.
4) "It's for officer/troop safety": That is an oxymoron. If you want a safe occupation, work in an office cubicle somewhere. Maybe you'll get a paper cut.
