Finding places to run & gun
« on: June 03, 2013, 08:13:28 PM »
Hey guys, do any of you know how to find places to run&gun?   :gunner:
Most fields around here are private property.
Where do you go to practice in full gear without scaring the neighbors?  :hiding:

Try your local mall or school.

My BOL Property. You are welcome to use it anytime. Of course you may have to take a flight or two.  ;)

Are you involved with any kind of prepping or patriot group? I am involved with Tea Party group - East Bay Patriots. In the group I met a guy who has property and I have ran his course a few times.

It's hard honestly. If you live near a city I would assume a 30-40 minute drive outside to find a decent range. Here it's more like 2 hours unless you belong to a private club this doctor owns. I was recently discussing this with a neighbor who got his first AR. He wanted to go somewhere with at least 100 yard range. We'd have to drive two hours for that. And private land? Ha. When people talk about "southern hospitality" it's usually sarcasm. Don't be fooled. I do all my practice nowadays in PA on private family owned land.

Thanks for the invitation John, although I don't even know if the US will give me a visa considering my affiliations  >:D

Sadly here where I live I'm a pioneer :P
I only have a "normal" shooting range.

I was thinking on just driving till the middle of nowhere, get in some field and do my thing but I don't want some farmer shooting at me or calling the police afraid I'm going to kill and stole his cows. Damn man there is nothing easy nowadays  :suicide:

I feel you pain, I got a three gun match started at my club just so they would get used to the idea of people carrying spare mags and practicing reloads.

In the mean time I would suggest a lot of dry fire... set up a barrier in your back yard or living room, put on your kit, make sure all your ammo is in another room and spend 30-90 minutes practicing reloading, dry firing and manipulating your weapon in as many obscure positions as possible.  Do jumping jacks and crawls in between.

This will go far more towards getting you combat ready, a lot less expensively than 90% of what I see people do at the range.

Where I shoot is BLM land (Bureau Land Management) its legal to shoot and do whatever you want as long you don't destroy it but theres a problem, a shit of people always dump shit everywhere so its kinda dangerous R&G and theres always people shooting all over the place but if I'm lucky I can R&G a little even do long range.
