JoJo, multi generational welfare families are a thing. there are problems with multi-generational welfare in all races and in many countries. Minorities are often scapegoats for many problems that are hard to solve. but i agree with JM on this one. in the US of A whites make up the largest demographic of multigenerational welfare recipients in the country. if coal country gets back to work, that will solve part of the problem. but it won't change the numbers by much.

if we can assume that a percentage of people - race not withstanding - seem to prefer welfare; i think we're looking at a class thing.
people who are entitled by wealth - and don't have to work the proverbial dilettante and playboy.
people who feel entitled to survive off someone else's work - the 'where's my gubment check!?' crowd.
people who derive a sense of self worth and pride in their work.

I don't have a problem giving someone a hand up - i have a problem paying someone just to have kids.
this class thing works like this;
so me and my family live in Pennsyltucky and are coal miners. Time passes and someone invents something that makes coal worthless. There are no other viable employment or business opportunities left to me in Pensyltucky.
do i move to Califlorida to seek new opportunities?
or
do i sit in my shanty collecting welfare for the next xx years, hoping things improve?
alot depends on how you feel about life. either could work or fail. Me, i'de rather take the situation in my own hands - at least its my choice. others might just sit there and hope someone else fixes the problem.
I suspect this forum is full of the types that want to take their best shot at it, rather than let the gubment tell us that to do.
regardless of what they look like. maybe im a hopeless romantic but its me.
