Quick question. can i harden the head by throwin it in a fire? These cheaper heads always seem soft.

Or, an even better option, learn some basic smithin' yourself! Wouldn't hurt and it'd increase your prepper value.

Not sure about the other shit, but don't fire the head unless you would like it to shatter into lots of little pieces next time you use it.  It may be too soft to hold a sharpening for long, but should require less energy to sharpen and it's cheap, so you won't kick yourself too hard when you fuck the blade up trying to sharpen it :thumbsUp:
