Okay so here is the moment you all have been waiting for!  Oh and BTW a tip I forgot to post earlier.  If you are needing to sponge a touch up a little, forgo the bowl and just spray the paint onto the sponge!

Also, when I did mine I removed the bolt completely, and took out the charging handle so I could paint it as well.  I then stuffed napkins in the receivers to prevent any paint from getting in the good parts a piece of parking popcorn in the barrel lol.

so it's done for the most part. came out pretty kickass actually. didn't use OONW's sponge method BUT.... I didn't get alot of the sharp contrasts that I wanted from my foliage (I used a bunch of tall grass and other various foliage for stencils).. so I may actually go back and sponge on some contrast colors on the stenciled spots. idunno. either way, it'll do, that's for sure. twas a good first attempt.  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

pics to come soon.

(cornkiller.... see what you started bro? lol)

in case anyone is curious:

I hit it with a base coat of tan, came back with some random OD green stripes, then stenciled over some tall grass with brown, and peppered it with tan and green again (while the grass was still on it)

holding the vert grip. my thumb rests right on the button. it's actually one of the reasons I stopped using the AFG and switch to a normal vert grip.

Nola, it didn't look like you could get you light turned on. I'm pretty sure v0dka is on the same track.

nah it works out pretty well actually. not as good as a pressure switch but it's good enough. I mounted the light in a specific spot in conjunction with the vert grip so that when my left hand is on the grip, my thumb sits right there behind the button on the rear of the light.

the only thing that troubles me about it is that it's just one more thing to draw focus and attention away from the target. one more gadget to manually tinker with. sooner or later maybe I'll drop the cash for a pressure switch but this set up will do for now.

thanks bro. and crudos.

just to throw this out there, if anyone tries the same technique I used, I would allow a day or two for your foliage to wilt. when it's fresh, it doesn't lay down on the rifle very well and allows some of the paint mist to get underneath the spots where it's not laying flat. I figure if you rip your foliage out of the ground and give it some time to wilt and go limp, it'll probably give better results.

example, I painted about 10 mags to match the rifle, and by that point in the night, all the grass was limp and wilted, and the mags ended up coming out better than the rifle because the stencil foliage laid down flat on the surface of the mags.

OONW, Damn dude that looks Great. I can't even see it in the second picture.

Haha Nola, I Guess I did start something. I winged mine as well and it turned out like I wanted. ( was going for the old BDU woodland camo look) Your rifle looks great dude.

Alright JohnyMac, It is alll on you. Your turn to paint your rifle so thatguy will paint his pink! No ballls! Won't do it!! :P :))

Alright today I painted my buddies Norinco SKS and I painted 5 more of my AK47 Magazines today. Turned out pretty beast. He wanted his to have more tan on due to the clay/sand in his area.

In the process of painting the magazines, I took out the springs and followers then boiled them in Dawn soapy water to take off all the oil, grease and muck.

Funny story from a few days ago. Was at the airsoft store with Papabear and indeed up taking in my rifle by request so they could see the paint job in person. Well I showed it offd and was carrying it around the store. At this point I should add that I was wearing multicam parts that day. So I'm reading my rifle on my boor when one of the employees freaks out at me. He hasn't noticed the rifle next to my pant leg and thought I had left it laying around in the store. Lol true story!

so i finally found some flat clear krylon and hit the rifle with it. ohhh disappointment. it's got a freakin sheen to it dammit! granted, not nearly as slick as glossy, of course, but it's there.

does anyone have experience with using steel wool, or maybe even extremely fine sandpaper to rough up a clear finish?

like i said, it's really not that shiny, but compared to how dull it was before the clear coat, it's like a damn mirror. i kinda want to rough it up but I'd hate to fuck up the awesome new paint job after all this effort. any input will be appreciated.
