G'day. Thank You Whiskey for your apology and stepping up to be the better man. I felt the need here just to add a couple of things that I think we all need to remember as preppers on a international public forum.
1. WHAM, Winning Hearts And Minds of all those around us. It's important to remember that some of the people on this forum are new to the prepping scene and what they see on these forums is a bigger influence on them than we may all realise. Influential members on this forum(I'm talking about those who make alot of informative threads or posts) have a somewhat unspoken responsibility to those new members that join these forums. This unspoken responsibility is given by the rest of the community to uphold moral standards and to promote preppers in a positive way.
The counter productive actions of this enable those who oppose the ideals that we follow, the ammo they need to bolster their arguements in discrediting our choice of lifestyle. We encountered people like this on MrLnL's site and youtube, those members know what I'm talking about.
2. The freedom of speech is a right in America, however that right comes with the responsibility of how you exercise it. There are some topics that are taboo for an open forum such as this one and if you wish to make jokes that are considered morally taboo, think first of the other people of the site. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Australian Soldier, we have some of the darkest humor that gets around, but we're also taught that there's a time and place for it and even then, exercise caution because there may be someone who will still be offended by it.
3. Taking things with a grain of salt. Now what I mean by this is not to roll over and pretend that someone has not done something to offend you, but to gain a different perspective and try and understand where the other person is coming from. If you are still offended by what ever they have done, then tell them in a respectfull manner and tone. Leaving after one bad experience however is not helpfull and counter productive to all the new members of the site, it makes us look childish, that we can't talk things out rationally and like adults. If the person who has offended you is still acting offensive, then there is nothing wrong with reporting their behavior to the mods, after that ignore them(the offender that is.) I have faith that the creator of this site will do the right thing and have a chat with that member and sort it out one way or another.
Well that's my 2 cents on this, sorry about the long post, but I felt the need to get this off my chest. And Whiskey, once again good job on stepping up mate.
