I'm getting very concerned.
« on: June 01, 2022, 07:40:22 PM »
I watch a lot of the economic gurus on you tube and there weren't all that many in the past. Wow, now there must be 100 of them and some of them are so full crap that I can smell it at my house, but most of them seem well informed and we are right on the edge of destruction. Just today, I told the wife that after her doctor's appointment tomorrow, we should ride to town and go to a restaurant to eat and I should stop by my Silver dealer's shop and if he has any Silver, I should grab another $1,000 worth. I can't believe that there are so many Sheeple out there who haven't a clue due to Normalcy Bias. It bothers me that I can't feed all those dumbasses when the collapse happens.

True however I think many know but are in denial. I talk to alot of them. Also if they were aware silver ammo food and gas would prolly be nearly unobtainable to us.

I agree Deathstyle, many folks are in denial. Many also have just thrown up their hands in frustration and do not care what is coming down the pike.

I communicate with a lot of folks. Progressives, conservatives. Preppers non preppers. They all think a 1929 type economic hurricane is coming. Some do not care as they think .gov will take care of them. Some are just throwing up their hands and saying, "I give up. Bring on what ever and I will get in line".

Then there are preppers who are preparing however, there are two groups here. One is hard preppers and preparing for years of economic and political collapse. The other group of preppers are preparing for a month or two but no more.

We are plucked folks.

I agree, Johny, with the idea of there being divisions within the prepper community.  In our MAG, most folks are planning for the long term, but there are some family units that are prepping for a few months.  Folks like that are the "just in case" preppers, much like the "just in case" Christians who attend church at Easter and Christmas.  The question is what to do with them when their supplies run out.

In any case, normalcy bias kills.

With a long term collapse, beside surviving, what businesses will thrive?  My son is an apprentice blacksmith, and his skill is rapidly improving.  He's thinking that his skill set will be in demand in the SHTF, and if it doesn't happen, he still has a way to make money on the side.  We're thinking of buying more chickens for eggs, as egg prices have been projected to increase to $1.00 per egg by this coming winter.  So the chicken business will be one our side businesses here at our little homestead.

Re: blacksmithing.

A smith who can convert ?trash metal like automobile Leaf springs into axe, adze and plows will be very useful. A mechanic a blacksmith and machinist is a good troika . Add some returned combat veterans and you?ve got a good mix to keep grid down farms and watermen in business and protected.
Prepper or Survivalist ?

A Prepper keeps survival rations for his pets.

A Survivalist  keeps pets as survival rations.

While I have the three month part covered, efforts continue to pilot project through gardening that will sustain year to year, seed-to-seed in larger quantity.
And I pray those who surround me will cherish a distiller as one of the most valuable community member they can have (other than a doctor)    :-)
