Attention - The outter bands of Ian have entered southern Virginia and taken out 16530 power customers so far.  Expect power loss, fill tubs with water and get your back-up lights in order now.

I'm inside the blue line.  But the western part of it and have at most 26 mph wind so far.  Minimal and light rain.

But local news says its coming.

I hope you all come through without difficulty.  We are very fortunate that Ian kept shifting to the east.  We got some light rain and wind.  The power never went out.

No power loss, a couple flickers, not enough to have to turn the TV back on.  No winds over 30mph and not alot of rain.  Local stations still saying 2-4 inches in my area, should be pretty well over by around noon tomorrow.

Kevin has a pretty good radar link, see below.

Here in Virginia near The Bay; bands of very heavy rain, wind and distant thunder.  Over 100,000  customers without power, Statewide.  We have power, and like you, only a few flickers.  Bathtub and containers filled with water so that if we loose power, we still have enough for our needs.  Being on a septic system, we do not need water pressure, only water.  Scanner is showing trees down and some wayward powerlines in our area.

The moderate solar power system we have here runs radios and alternative lighting, as well as recharging gadgets.

Glad this one is almost over.  Many places south of us were hit VERY hard by Ian.

I have a fair bit of yard picking to do getting up the small and dead branches and early leaf fall.  No damage, no trees down.  Guess that tornado back in May got any weak ones.

Lost power for about 15 seconds around 0130 or so and nothing beyond that.  Heavy breeze this morning but not much more.  Little rain and more of a cold, mid 50s, breezy, damp late fall morning.

Here it rained and the wind blew and it rained some more and the wind blew some more. Rinse and repeat. No power outage here at all. I have a bunch of leaves scattered across the yard but I'll just chop them up the next time I cut the grass.

My sister in law in NY has a co-worker whose 90+ yr old parents live in Ft Myers.  She called them before it made landfall and they were sheltering in their house as they said they did not get the evacuation notice soon enough.  She managed to call again during the storm and they had taken refuge in the loft because the water was rising in the house.

I was worried all day Thursday, but heard later they got out safe and sound.  I guess they had their bug out bags and water up in the loft.  Tough old birds.  Apologies if this belongs elsewhere.
