My husband actually. I'll admit that i was completely against prepping and the whole shebang for a long time. i just didn't see the need for it and thought it was a huge drain on the bank account but i consented to start putting small amounts back. About 2 years after we had started prepping there was a huge snow storm in our area. the snow drifts were so high that we had to rely on the items we put back to survive on because we could not leave the house. That opened the door to a bunch of ideas like learning to operate a firearm so i can protect myself and my daughter, so my husband worry about other things and being prepared in general.

What woke me up was how bad the government was getting we thought the bush messed it up for us but then obama came into office and now everything is getting a hole lot worse. I just turned a blind eye to all that was happening. but that is when i first started watching Mr.lockandload, onewildsurvival and all other prepping channels on youtube and my cousin he was the one who got me started off he gave me my first set up which was only a pistol belt suspenders buttpack canteen E-tool and 2 AR mag pouches. Now i have up graded from vests all the way to gas masks i own a ALICE Type LBV with all i have had on my old rig but not the E tool if the economic collapse ever happens i will stay in my house but if i have to leave i can just grab my LBV load up with food water clothing and move to a woodland location or another place such as a place in a town near my area.

Welcome M1919A.  Glad you're here.  Looks like you're well underway with your equipment.

whatcha got in terms of food/water/medical? guns and gear only get you so far, you can't eat them or use them to dress wounds.

also, while I do think having a few gas masks on hand is important, I find it difficult to get a decent cheek-weld on my rifle while wearing one. what say you?
