Title: HOW Did They Do It?
Post by: CrystalHunter1989 on October 30, 2011, 11:37:32 PM
I could write my own opinions on this subject, but I'd rather start a discussion. I spent my weekend watching documentaries on Genghis Khan, Alexander and Hannibal Barca. From there I went into more modern-day examples, like George Washington and No Veyong Giap. At every turn I kept asking: how did they do it? All of the odds were stacked against them. How did they find the ability to raise an army with which to win spectacular victories against their enemies, even if they ended up losing the war?

Khan and Giap were never given a formal military education, and both men came from humble backgrounds.

Washington and Alexander were young and inexperienced when they first went into battle. Washington suffered a humiliating defeat in the French and Indian War. Alexander broke several traditional rules of engagement (scaling the walls of an enemy fort ahead of his infantry), but won anyway.

In recent times, ordinary people are giving more thought to the future war that may befall us. In my opinion, it will be like the current bloodshed in Africa (small groups killing each other and a weak, so-called "government" at the center).

Is is possible that we'll see another Alexander like figure (in terms of abilities) within our lifetime? Would circumstances ever permit that?

I say absolutley. history has shown us that this happens time and time again. And I think that when the conditions are right those people will emerge in one way or another. Nice topic crystal!

I think the potential for a new, strong leader is definitely here. A lot of Americans are "asleep." They're not stupid. They've just forgotten what made this nation great. Once they realize how they need to act to restore their freedoms and America's status as a true bastion of liberty and limited government, they will be looking for a leader to follow. It takes one man, charismatic, undaunted and persevering, to rally a huge following. You've already seen it, Crystal: Hitler, Caesar, Jesus, Washington, etc. As long as our ability to communicate remains, the potential for one of these exists.
