Title: Hoplophobia
Post by: JoJo on December 29, 2016, 11:59:09 AM
I had my granddaughter and her boyfriend visiting over the Christmas holiday. He is waiting for admittance into the New Jersey police academy. Without revealing any of my preps I showed him my AR. You could see his blood run cold and I had to tell him that it is legal to own it in a free state like Delaware.
Having lived in the police state of New Jersey for 35 years I wasn't surprised by his actions. He will just have to get used to civilians owning guns because his future father in law is an avid hunter and sportsman.
Even though I don't have CCW I can't wait for reciprocity to torque the jaws of New Jersey's state police.   :gunner: :boltAction: :fuckYeah:

WOW JoJo. Interesting story. I am surprised at his response. Obviously a "cool-aide" drinker.

Finances. I'd have to buy a revolver (disability),rig and pay for a license. About $700 to a grand. I've been retired for 14 years so I'm not in the job market.

WOW $700-? Well that sucks JoJo.

RI Resident $40- plus the charge to get qualified another $20- or lunch as in my case, (good for 4 years)
MA Non-Res $100- a year plus the course I think it was $25-, (good for one year) and
PA Non-Res I think was $25- (good for 4 years).

I think Cabela's is offering a class in March where once you pass it you will be legal (Through reciprocity) in 34 states. Delaware is one of the states.

If you would like more info I will find out.

Handgunlaw.us

Best place I have found for good up to date info.  Check your state and go from there.  FL non-resident renewal for me this year was $92.  NRA class would be about $50.

As far as the handgun price, look at Hi Points.   http://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/ (http://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/)

Big, blocky, ugly but reliable as can be.  8 or 10 round magazines.  Lifetime warranty.  You have an issue, UPS it back (machine parts) and they fix it or replace it by making a new firearm around your serial number plate.  I could and would rely on mine.

Budsgunshop.com has you equipped for about $175.  Box of good ammo and you're weapon is hot for under $200.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/81965 (http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/81965)

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/656_2081_10000837/products_id/12704/Magtech%209MM%20+P+%20115%20Grain%20Jacketed%20Hollow%20Point/ (http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/656_2081_10000837/products_id/12704/Magtech%209MM%20+P+%20115%20Grain%20Jacketed%20Hollow%20Point/)

There you go.  Got you covered for $350.   But you mentioned you need a wheelgun.  Buds can do a new Charter Arms or Taurus .38 for right at $300.  So you are good for $500.

Do more exploring and searching.  You can probably find a decent to good used 38 for in the $200 range.

Worst case is you confirm what you know now.  Best case is you become pleasantly surprised.  And do some looking on those Hi Points.  You might be pleasantly surprised just with that.

I appreciate your comments but it has to be a revolver, I can't rack a pistol with my left hand (crippled).
CCW classes here run $150 to $175 then there is the cost of finger printing, two photo's and an add in the local newspaper plus 100 rounds of ammo. So now your over $300 plus the price of the revolver and gear.
I can't even rack a pump shot gun.
