Hit them up again.

You have 2 days to beat the NSA.

The NSA spying parts of the PATRIOT Act expire June 1st, if Congress does nothing. Next week = vacation. That means if Congress does nothing by Friday, we win. Tell Congress: don't reauthorize!

The sub act within the Patriot act that we need to first focus on is "215".

According to Sen. Rand Paul this morning, there is not enough votes (60) to repass the Act. I believe the House already has repassed the Act minus re-authorization of 215. So the Senate options are:

1) Pass a 1-2 month extension,
2) Pass the House bill minus 215,
3) Allow the complete Patriot Act to sunset, or
4) Pass the re-authorization which means it will go into committee with the House bill.

I suspect that number 1 will happen because we have spineless people in Wash. DC representing us.

Call Congress and tell them no more Sec. 215.  I brought over a small bit of the article.  Click below and read if you think 215 of the Patriot Act is realistic.

FBI admits no major cases cracked with Patriot Act snooping powers
By Maggie Ybarra - The Washington Times - Thursday, May 21, 2015

FBI agents can’t point to any major terrorism cases they’ve cracked thanks to the key snooping powers in the Patriot Act, the Justice Department’s inspector general said in a report Thursday that could complicate efforts to keep key parts of the law operating.

Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz said that between 2004 and 2009, the FBI tripled its use of bulk collection under Section 215 of the Patriot Act, which allows government agents to compel businesses to turn over records and documents, and increasingly scooped up records of Americans who had no ties to official terrorism investigations.

The FBI did finally come up with procedures to try to minimize the information it was gathering on nontargets, but it took far too long, Mr. Horowitz said in the 77-page report, which comes just as Congress is trying to decide whether to extend, rewrite or entirely nix Section 215.

If we can get a consensus in Congress to drop "215" well then the camels nose will be under the tent. Then we can start whittling at other parts of the Act.

I like to look at that like the nose is under the tent, headed outside.  We need to give that camel a good boot in the ass to hurry it along.
