are they out there? YES, they are.

But note source.

First Contact? Something in Space is Sending Earth Signals Like Clockwork, Scientists Don’t Know Why

Astronomers from around the world have long been fascinated by the mysterious radio signals bombarding our planet from deep in outer space, with some onlookers linking them to a possible extraterrestrial intelligence.

A new study by an international team of scientists led by astronomers at the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment Fast Radio Burst Project (CHIME/FRB) in British Columbia has discovered that a mystery radio source in a galaxy some 500 million lightyears from our solar system is sending out fast radio bursts like clockwork in 16.35 day cycles, including 1-2 bursts per hour over a four day period and then 12 days of silence before starting up again.

The discovery is important, because out of the 150+ fast radio bursts recorded by Earth-based observatories over the last decade and a half, only ten of them have repeated, and none as steadily as the source discussed in the study. Furthermore, only a handful of them have been tracked back to the galaxy they came from.
The mystery signal, known as FRB 180916.J0158+65 was first discovered in 2017, but has continued repeating steadily, albeit at a rate some 600 times fainter than the first bright flare. In their study, scientists analysed 28 bursts which took place between September 2018 and October 2019, confirming the pattern, and excitedly concluding “that this is the first detected periodicity of any kind in an FRB source.”

The new FRB was tracked down to SDSS J015800.28+264253.0, a star-forming galaxy about 500 million light years from Earth.

I want to know the content of the bursts.  especially since that frequency set is filled with astronomical phenomenon.  Using Earth or Jupiter as an analogy - If you monitor the correct bands, you would get the same thing.  All caused by lightning.  The other problem is propagation attenuation.  we're talking black hole or neutron star strengths at that distance.

Radio astronomy went through this same exercise with spy satellites, pulsars, magnetars and a few others.
Heck, the optical guys are still scratching their heads over Tabby's star and Betelgeuse.

for my 2¢ I think 'they' are out there.  The odds say its probable.
But no one has squared the Drake equation with the Fermi paradox yet.

Would natural phenoma be so--  like clockwork in 16.35 day cycles, including 1-2 bursts per hour over a four day period and then 12 days of silence before starting up again.

That is what indicates it is not a natural occurrance but created by some type of intelligent life.

If the question is, "Are alien spaceships real?' Then yes they are. Anyone who has not seen one may be skeptical. I'm not skeptical, if you get my drift. I you ask, I'll tell you all about it. If you don't ask, I'll just keep quiet.

why not? - using the lightning analogy again,  you have yearly cycles and daily cycles from the lightning alone.  Assume the moon is between us and ET - it blocks the signal at regular intervals.
here is one possible and natural example.  if the source of the signal is occluded at regular intervals you could see that same pattern.  so a signal source - like a neutron star is blocked by an orbiting planet or a binary twin.  combine that with orbital mechanics and you could get any of several combinations.

one note, parallax or drift will make the signal drift in odd ways over time.  Likely it is going to either fade or disappear shortly.

lets hear your story

The way I look at it is if you've ever stared up at the evening sky without any city lights around, you will be amazed at the number of stars which means there are countless other planets. There absolutely has to be life out there somewhere and probably hundreds of other planets with life.

Long version takes quite a while.
SHORT VERSION: Just after dark, one very bright light appeared to be about 2 miles away in the East. Ten smaller lights slowly came off from the big bright light, one at a time. As each little light came off the big light got dimmer and dimmer until there were eleven lights of equal brightness spread out in a random manner. Then, one by one they each slowly went back and joined the main one. By the time they all had returned the one main light was back to full brightness. Then the bright light slowly moved off to the East until it no longer was visible. Total time was about 20 minutes. Yes, the other people in the neighborhood saw it because I called them out to watch it.
