Should Apple give in?
« on: February 18, 2016, 09:39:36 PM »
The government wants Apple to break the encryption in its I-Phone. I say NO and I have a few good reasons why. Just before the 2012 elections the NSA admitted that it snooped on five Congressmen and wouldn't say who. They also admitted that they used their equipment to check up on their spouses to see if they were cheating. We were also lied to about the metedata they were amassing. I don't trust this president or his cabinet or any democrat one iota.

In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.

Apple could open up the one phone and copy off the data for the feds, but no way should they give the feds the key to all phones.

You do realize Republicans are just as bad in this matter? The ramp up of spying on citizens was done under Bush and Repub Congress. And that's just the recent stuff.

So, back on topic, glad Apple is not complying at the moment. And it's quite candid for them to say they don't have a way to backdoor iOS. Not sure the goobment can make them either. The fact that this is even coming up shows how secure Apple made the iPhone software to begin with. Wonder if Android and Windows will take note?

I am on your side Apple.  DO NOT submit.

You do not have to create something you do not now have to let someone get into a phone they cannot and currently you cannot.

Ya'll know corporations lie  :sarcasm:

If I was Apple, I'd puff out my chest and snub big brother publicly. I'd tell them that even I can't hack the phone, that's just how secure it is. I'd sell more phones to those who I've made believe that your safety lies in the apple cart cause admitting to a back door is market suicide. Maybe .gov is already in and wants all those terrorists using apple cause they got the key or apple's got a back door on all those new phones they're releasing. Brilliant marketing or a conspiracy. A jihad on the jihadis ?  :tinfoil:

See what the next couple of weeks bring. If it goes away, the .gov got what they wanted.

This is what I do not understand.

The FBI has a warrant to open the phone in question. Why don't they hire Apple, an ex apple employee or some wiz bang code writer to get into the phone? Forcing a company to do so is conscription or for you Obama supporters slavery.

Apple, stand firm. DO NOT give .gov the "code". Do not write into future phones a back door for .gov.

:tinfoil: Cause eventually, one will "disappear". Once they get them on a waterboard, it'll take milliseconds to be inside that phone.   :tinfoil:

Waterboard them all to death.  But the software to do what govt wants does not exist.  Apple must create it.  That is the problem.

To me, like making Jews in Germany try to build atomic bombs with no radiation considerations.

Ben Franklin

I know I'm always the off topic poster so first let me say, I might be switching to Apple because of the Encryption. Good job Apple.

In regards to the quote above, what is essential liberty? Stating essential liberty implies that there is nonessential liberty as well, does it not?

Once we analyze the quote, we go one of two ways.

- All liberty is essential and referred to as such. Thus Ben was anti-taxation and did not support the existence of government in any form (not likely but necessary to propose).

Or

- Some liberty is non-essential, thus the quote states nothing we can learn about liberty due to the lack of a definition for essential and non-essential liberties. This means Ben is claiming that there are some liberties worth giving up to purchase temporary safety and we(today)can't know what's what without asking him. We can quote him and apply our own subjectivity to the quote, but then we've lost all clout from the quote and are better off just quoting ourselves.

The FBI says its OK for Apple to make up the software and keep it or destroy it afterwards but they want Apple to be forced to do it.  Thats the problem.  Once Apple has it and something else comes along then "need" to get in to.  Well guess .  .  ..

And the FBI caused the problem to start by changing the password to get into it.  They initially gave the blame to the administrators at the county where Farook was working.  Then they came out and said it was done at their urging.  FBI screw up, Apple need provide no help.   Read both articles linked with the ABC one first.

This is what a new Apple commercial would look like...if they were to "keep it real."
