China was already in deep economic trouble prior to their extended COVID lockdown as their Evergrande, which by the way is the largest real estate company in the world, was repeatedly defaulting on their loan. This alone was cause for concern around the world as they expected it to cause a global 2008-type financial woe as this company by itself is worth over 26% of China?s GDP.
