Many of my friends think that the past can be preserved. Well unfortunately like a birth of a baby the process has begun and we are moving down the birthing canal and out to the light of a new alien world.
My theory is that as we move from an industrial nation to something else, the turmoil we are all seeing whether it be political, divisions among us, or wars - We are just experiencing the pains of giving birth to a new world and economy.
This birthing process will be painful and we will experience greater division among us. Between the folks who want to hold onto the past Vs. the folks who welcome with open arms our new future. There will be internal strife as in a civil war and probably external nastiness as in a world war too. Human nature naturally does not like change and will not want to move onto what is at the end of this worldly birth canal; However, it is inevitable. The past will be the past and the now will be the now.
Just look at the history of man in just the last 2000 years. Christianity, Islam, The Magna Carta, The American Revolution, The American Constitution & Bill of Rights, slavery and its demise, agriculture to an industrial economy, electricity, the atomic/hydrogen bomb, space travel, civil rights, computers that take up a whole room to computers that live in your back pocket, et cetera.
Once this new age is born it will be up to the survivors who will shape this new world. Unfortunately knowing man’s nature, it will most likely be built from the ashes of the old world.
