Fear the Walking Dead

Anyone else watch it? 

This is exactly how it could start.  About 20 minutes in there was a comment-- that stuff on the net about it is all fake. 
IMHO, it can/will happen. 

But anyway, the show as pretty darn good.  I will be watching. 

The start and no explanation of where they came from and how or what started it, what it grew from was what let me lose interest in the Walking Dead show.

Walking dead is a good show. I enjoyed the graphic novels for the same reason I enjoy the show. Not because of the zombies but because of the psychology involved and how the characters develop.

At first I also wanted to know how it all began but I think that sense of the unknown adds to the realism because honestly if something like that were to happen I don't believe that most of the survivors would have any conclusive proof of what happened. There may be suspicions or theories but of it spreads quickly enough it is very possible that we wouldn't get the facts before comms go down.

I've also found that it's a useful show to use if you want to jump start someone into prepping because it's graphic enough to make average Joe not want to be caught off guard.

Granted we are one episode in, but so far I like the direction of the new show. I think for many of the same reasons that you do.  The way that the crisis is building and almost willfully being ignored. Lines like "If there was something to worry about they would let us know"  and the one you mentioned are very easily seen in todays society.  I also like how at the end of the episode there is obviously something going on and it is just put off as a car jacking or chase that ended badly.  Too many easy assumptions.

Anyway, as I said only one episode in so far....but it has me hooked right now.

I dunno.. It was just like the writers had ot go out of their way to make every single family relationship defective and dysfunctional which is the new and celebrated "normal" on TV.
Seems to cliche to me for that reason.

But the logic makes reasonable sense.

Looks like it was at the point where it was in everyone (or at least many) folks already and just dieing would make it happen.
For example IMO Gloria likely overdosed , died and "woke up" as  a zombie feasting on the helpless stoners who were sleeping off  a "score".

Gloria got it from sharing needles.  Like lots of other things in the addict community.  That could be the major transmission source until it gets enough to get the bite transmission factor going.  Certainly reasonable to the story.

Yesterday I tried to watch the first episode, I found it extremely boring and couldn't keep myself awake. Hopefully I'll retry to watch it

So the third episode aired this weekend. And the sheep were exposed to the potential horibleness of the zompoc. But were ultimatly lulled back to sleep by the aperence of uncle sugar in resplendent body armor and black rifled goodness. And so the sheep said baahhh and wanted to continue grazing. But the quiet disenter known as salazar saw the truth and stated.
"Its going to get worse now". A good way to end the show imho.
i would like to  shine a light upon the paternal salazar at this time. The chatacter is a refugee of the elsalvador civil war. He has carved out a good life for.his wife and daughter. But he never forgot the lessones he learned escaping his homelands civil war. And i think the most important lesson he imparts is. Never  forget that scociety is a thin vaneer. That is easily exposed. Just a thought. I did enjoy the the show as a twm distraction from the day to day grind none the less.

I just finished watching the season finale... This series suck so bad I can't even explain it...

The story reached a point where now there is again a  group of survivors who will need to scavenge and go somewhere trying to find a better place to stay, but the key difference with the original series is that not even one of the characters is relatable, honestly I'll like to see them all dead, they suck.

Series is full of cliches, bad weapon handling, bad guys that talk instead of shooting and gun shots that hurt less than a few punches.

And all this in only 6 chapters, I cant even imagine what would be to endure the double.

They are not relatable because they are part of the 99% of the US that none of us here can relate to.  And the situation is exactly what the survivors of the 99% would be in and still expecting govt assistance.

They are on that beachfront and I don't think any of them realize just what has happened and will happen and what they will be required to do if they choose to live.

I hope they can remember a bit of the teaching of Mr. Salazar and one day in the very near future realize that the s--t has actually hit the fan and they are on their own.

It started weak but gained a bit of strength each show and have me interested.  Madison will be the key to the show as it progresses.  Her husband Nick will either get his ass together or in a sling real fast.

Keep watching, I suspect it will not take long to get to the "set the recorder" point.

I am torn with this show.  Like APX808 I have trouble with relating to these people. It is almost to the point that the script has them intentionally oblivious to what is going on right in front of their faces. On the other hand as Nemo said this is the reaction that could be expected by the 99%.....to the end looking for who is going to help them. Initially they only looked to the govt, as that option was eliminated they relied on their new "friend" who had a plan.  It will be interesting to see how long it will take for them to start to acknowledge the full reality of the situation and if they can get their s#@t together. I was definitely frustrated with the show (and had an ongoing dialog at the tv) but I am also very much interested to see where they will go with the show when it returns.

Whew.... I thought I was the only one. I normally have discussions with the tv on Saturdays during college football, but this show..... has caused me to cross the line.
 
Ms brat says I need help. Maybe I can locate a local TCA (TV Cussers Anon) chapter.  :facepalm:

I didnt like much the early episodes but it got better closer to the end.
I agree w/ you folks on 1 points.. none of the characters are relatable to us (except maybe the highschool kid who saw it coming ;) ) but they may be ralatable better to most folks.
