Tracking ammo buyers
« on: April 15, 2017, 10:17:28 PM »
I bought two boxes of 223 at Walmart tonight, I live in Delaware and I had to not only show my drivers license but the checker put my information in their computer. When I asked when did this start he said about a month ago. I also asked if it was Walmart or state, he replied state. Walmart stopped selling guns in Delaware awhile ago when our democrat Governor forced them to so I wondering if it is the same thing.

ever get the feeling that liberal progressives are afraid of a population able to defend itself against tyranny?
the US of A should perhaps make learning the Constitution (both US and their respective State's) part of highschool again.  My nephew got through school and only learned about the history of the Bill of Rights in lawschool.

if we don't educate the public citizen, we will end up in chains or another civil war.  history does have a tendency of repeating itself.

i feel your pain JoJo.

Well written Kbop!

I do think it is a state by state deal on the ammo.

These four states I am familiar with...

New York - They ask your birth date and put it into the register to allow the transaction to continue. I always subtract 21
from the day I am there buying ammo. April 16, 2017 becomes April 15, 1996 as my B-Day. By the way you
can buy rifle ammo at 18 or older but you have to be 21 or older to buy handgun ammo including .22LR
Massachusetts - You have to have a "Blue Card". You attain a blue card after you take a class and take a test. Similarly,
you have to be over 21 to buy handgun ammo. Oh also, you can not take ammo to the register. The
salesman takes it to the counter.
Pennsylvania - No id required or any sully questions. It use to be no age minimum either but who knows that could of
changed. When a I was a youth, for .22LR only, they use to write your name in a book and how
many boxes you bought. I think that changed though.
Rhode Island - Pretty much like PA.

So there you go...

Va, walmart-- go to the display cabinet and have the clerk unlock it, give you the ammo you take to the register there and pay cash for it  (I never do plastic, I figure their camera is good enough) put it in a bag and leave.

Same as in Va along with Ga and FL when I was there.

Handgun purchases in FL had a 3 day wait that did not apply if you had CCW permit.  Ga did not require an instant check call if you had CCW permit.

Remember gents, the South Shall Rise Again.

In case there is ever registration for reloading powder--  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93qxykNZFLg

I wonder what Trump will be discussing at his address in Atlanta at the NRA convention the end of the month.

I just received an email from my NRA rep Kory R Enck and he found out that tracking of ammo purchases at Walmart was done by an individual and is not company policy in Delaware.
Kudos and a shout out to Kory R Enck

Well, life has changed in Va at walmart for ammo sales.  I went there today to make a purchase.  Dept manager got it off the shelf and started to ring it up and asked for ID.  I got my wallet out and started for drivers license.  But a quick thought on the swipe strip make me go for my Va CCW permit.  (Side note #1, That DL will need to fall in between the magnets I recovered from a microwave for a few dozen hours.  And that might scratch the other marks up a bit too.)

It was the dept manager who was ringing me up and she said no go on that, needed drivers license.  I advised that was issued by Va State Police and required much more checking on me than drivers license.  She said no go and only drivers license would do.  I asked what if I did not have one and she said no sale.

I asked for manager, she said she was manager.  I said No, I want the overall store manager.  She was put out and grumpy and I told her not the manager for hard goods or that side or such, the head manager in the store.

She became more snootyfied and got on the phone.  About 10 minutes later 3 came to the counter.  One the loss prevention manager, the store asst manager and the manager for that side of the store.  I decided to deal with that level and work up the chain of command if needed.  (Side note #2, the loss prev lady was possibly low 30s.  The other 2 were both 25 max.  I got a grin out of that.)

After a 10 minute discussion and showing both my Va CCW and FL CCW and substantial review of corp policy on the phone display, they decided that corporate policy was being met and made the sale.

Dept manager who rang up at the end of it was aghast at the whole idea of me getting 200 round of WWB 45acp without a drivers license.  She remained highly snootyfied as I grinned at her like a big dog.

Good for you Nemo!

If more people put up a stink rather than just be sheep, Walmart would reverse this stupid policy.

Now if I was you, I would write a letter to Walmart complaining about the snooty and condescending attitude of the employees.

I have been in retail all of my life. I was always happy to receive constructive criticism from my customers. This helped me and my employees to get better.
