I just want to say that was ONE HELL OF A BOOK definitely a different style that i have been craving in the preparedness/firearms underground book community. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on this book series is i have not read the next two yet that will be hopefully soon when they come in but I tell you that was a great read. there's another thread somewhere around here about the same book. this one popped up first.
anyway, I just finished the book and I feel the same way about it as you. it was fantastic. it puts several other "survival-minded" books to shame.
not that books like One Second After and Patriots aren't good, but EF&D definitely stands alone.
that being said, I just bought the second book in the trilogy (thank youuuu kindle... i can start reading immediately after I click the "buy it" button :)) )
the general consensus among all the reviews I found is that the trilogy actually gets better with each book, and everyone's favorite is the third and final book. I can't wait.

My copy is in the mail right now, if I can finish it before the contest prizes ship I will throw it in with the 3rd place prize.

I enjoyed the book. Now I have to move onto the second one.
For you folks that have't read Unintended Consequences get it. It falls along the same lines but a lot more history rolled into the plot.
A few folks have asked me to e-mail it to them however I can't do that unless you PM me your e-mail address. I can not attach it to a SP post.

All the books are amazing.
Castigo Cay is an amazing book as well. Definitely get it and read it all.
IMHO, the 2nd one wasn't quite as good as the EFAD, the first, but I'll be honest, ALL of them are really better than all the other books that I have read about survival/preparedness genre. I think they all kick ass.
I would suggest them to anyone, and I would tell them to buy all of them. He's an amazing writer, and I love that he focuses on real-life tactics for the most part.
Also, check out ABSOLVED by Mike Vanderboegh, also heavy on the tactics and its a badass book, about a fiction civil war of sorts developing in the country between the State and National government.
Here is the link to all the ABSOLVED chapters that he has put out so far: http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2008/07/absolved-banner-connector.html (http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2008/07/absolved-banner-connector.html)
Hopefully, if Mike V doesn't die from complications on his recent stomach tumor removal, he'll finish the book, get done with changes and edits, and release it so you call can also buy it all on your Kindle or just buy a hardcopy from Amazon or another source.
I hope you all enjoy ABSOLVED as well.

Great book. The second one was good, but it did drag on a bit at times. It was worth it, because the third one kicked ass.
Just finished Castigo Cay. Another kickass book.

Thanks for the link EJR914 ill be checking that out...and i agree that i am currently on the second and it is great but drags along in parts but that's ok because its a great read...I wouldn't mind finding a girl like Ranya Bardiwell, though that's like a one in a million chance.

so i finished the second book, Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista, last night. pretty solid, i must say. so far, I'd give both of the first two books 8.5/10
I really can't say that either one is better than the other, they're both equally good but in very different ways. there's a distinct difference in Bracken's writing style between the two. it seems like he honed his skills considerably with the second book. I think that may be why some people think the second one drags along a bit, because he spends more time developing characters and plot lines, but IMO it still doesn't take away from the thrill and action. it's still jam packed with clever twists and unexpected outbursts.
I'm about 7 chapters into the third book, Foreign Enemies and Traitors. so far, I'm already starting to see why most of the reviews say this one is the best. It picks up about 2 or 3 years after the second book ends. the situation has grown drastically worse and the stakes are much higher. this one is shaping up to be a badass grand finale to the series.
if you guys haven't yet, you REALLY need to pick up all three of these books. great fictional story, great strategy and tactics to be learned from Bracken's writing.

NOLA, your book review is right on.
I am about 80% through the third one and hopefully will finish it tomorrow.
For you frugal minded folks: If you have Kindle for PC's (Free from Amazon) they are only $6.99 ea.
Once I finish this one I am moving onto Massad Ayoob's "In the Gravest Extreme". The role of the Firearm in personal protection.

The enemies trilogy is fantastic. My favorite is probably the 2nd book, domestic enemies, since it takes place in my area, the southwest, and the whole "reconquista" nonsense the tan klan is always talking about. Traitors was great though, especially since it had experienced and trained men doing what needed to be done, as well as the very thinly veiled obama figure getting his come uppance at the end. I am probably going to order his new book, castigo cay, on my next amazon book splurge.
If you are on this forum, EFAD and it's sequels should be required reading. [img]http://www.smileydesign.n

Very seldom do I stay up past 10:00PM as I like to get up early. Well last evening I stayed up till midnight finishing the third book in the trilogy. Without giving up the end of the book: I can only say that I had tears streaming down my face as I turned the last pages.
The storyline so much runs parallel to what is happening in this country now, it is amazing. I guess that is why its such a good read.

Yep, some of the best books your money can buy. A heck of a read. [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

yeah i am starting on the third book now since school is winding down and i have more time for reading stuff that matters...any ways in all three books i see many parallels between what is written and what could and is happening in the United States right now...it seems Bracken is very insightful in our ever evolving economic and political situation.
