duckduckgo has generally been advertised as a fair and uncensored site for searches. There has been some past rumbling that they are not what they claim to be (but who IS, these days?). Now, by their own admission, they have jumped on the 'censoring Russia' band wagon. Personally, I understand propaganda, as I have been exposed to it all of my life, from the blantant nonsense spewed by North Korea to the smoother approaches by more advances Soviet vassal States and of course the constant drum beat by the controlled western media. What has served me well in the past, was to listen to and to read a wide spread of information from nations and organizations with varying agendas and learn to read between the lines for what is -probably- reality.
Duckduckgo has decided that we are not able to think, so does the thinking for us, based upon what criteria, only they know.

The other danger, is what is scrubbed from the memory hole of the web so that we cannot look-up what WAS labled as TRUTH(tm) in the past to compare notes.

The narrative and world as a whole is changing faster than i can keep up.

Damn that sucks!!
Now where to go for honest search results??

I've used startpage.com for a long time. Pretty legit security, only one cookie for user preferences that dies after 90 days. Secure search, pretty broad reach, with an option to view every result (including images) anonymously, and has never turned over data to any .gov agency. DDG is hosted on Amazon Web Services, so that should tell you everything you need to know.

Just changed to startpage.com

Yeah, I've used startpage for some time. My only complaint with startpage is that their results seem limited, when compared to other search engines, but it does meet my needs, most of the time.

I used startpage for about 4-hours yesterday. It was awful. Information available was very limited and I received a notice from them asking if I was a bot. Basically, there was a lot of requests coming from my IP number.
I responded, "Well assholes, I do a lot of research". Then I switched back to DDG.

That's weird. I agree that results seem more limited, but I usually find what I want. I've never had them give me captchas or other rigamarole like other sites (DX Engineering, I'm looking at you!) because I use a VPN. I've had it as the default in Brave for a long time now. DDG being on Amazon's servers makes me nervous, as does anyone who is allowed to continue using AWS, I wonder what they give up to stay. I did use DDG for a while, and I can't even remember what made me switch. Never had a real issue with either one.
