Title: Doing Some Reloading and Got a Case Stuck in the Die
Post by: EJR914 on February 02, 2012, 04:43:47 PM
Doing Some Reloading (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eal_7EOE08#ws)

I wanted to make a quick short video on reloading and the point is getting other people into it as well, and that's the first part of the video.

Well of course I got a freaking case stuck in the resizing die and now I cannot get it out.  Wild Turkey said if I could get the top off the resizing die, I could chisel it out with a hammer, but I cannot even get it out then.  I've been pulling with a pair of channel locks, but of course I'm getting no where with it.

Ya'll have any suggestions to getting this brass out of the resizing die?

you have to take the whole die apart. Also you should get some kind of lube and put on the die, in case it happens again.

The reason it happend is you have the base to close to the case when you are pushing the primer out

Thanks.  What is the trick to getting the die apart?  I was using case lube, is there something else I should be using?

Also, thanks for the tip, I'll try and make sure the base is further away from the case when the primer gets pushed out.

Is it weird seeing me use your reloader?  LOL

I've tried unscrewing the part that goes down and extracts the spent primer, but that shit is on there really tight, I can't break it.   :(

Thanks for the help guys, I'll probably get it, just going to have to mess with it a lot.

Do you guys know where and how to remove the spendle lock?  I have no idea what they're talking about.

I've tapped the "spindle?" the rod that pushes out the used primer about a Centimeter out of the die, but it won't move any further.

I'm hopeless.

The "Collet" (SP?)  on top of the sizing die will not budge, no matter how much pressure I put on it.  Supposedly, I have to loosen this first before I can tap the decaping pin and drive the stuck case out of the die.

Is that correct?

Pliers, channel locks, and even my wrenches wouldn't work.  Wild Turkey had to come over, and he's got some two foot long wrenches and we finally got the summabitch open.  It was a pain in the ass.  We just need the right hardware to get the leverage we needed.  I didn't have a steel pipe for leverage or anything.

Anyway, I'm back up and running and made some more ammo this afternoon.   :D

So what mistake did you make? I ask because I have reloaded thousands of rounds and never stuck a case.

I honestly don't know, but GAP thought it was that I forget to put case lube on one.  I got rockin' and a rollin' and forgot to lube it.   [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at
