Title: Do Me A Favor

Well MrsMac and I just got back from reading the Declaration of Independence with a bunch of my friends at our towns WW I memorial. All Tea Party, liberal, and conservative neighbors and friends. We do this every year - Rain or shine!

So here is a JohnyMac challenge to my UP friends around the USofA and the world.

Take 5 minutes, click on the accompanying link and read the Declaration of Independence. http://www.archives.gov/ (http://www.archives.gov/)…/chart…/declaration_transcript.html

Once you do that "like" then "share" and then write a one or two sentence comment on how many grievances from 1776 are the same today.

I have always loved Red Skeltlon's Pledge of Allegiance piece.

Ok but nobody has... "write[n] a one or two sentence comment on how many grievances from 1776 are the same today."

Well, I feel that "taxation without representation" is here today. I don't feel that if the vast majority of Americans who do pay taxes said, "Hey, we don't want the income tax anymore" that the government "employees" would erase it from the books.

I also think that "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" is history, if it ever did truly exist in this nation.

Here are a couple of key excerpts of the grievances from 1776 that could hold true today.

-He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
-For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
-Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule
-He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us

Here are a few more...

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us,
