First and foremost I must say Reaver is a crazy sob and I'm glad to have'm. After many talks about general subjects that tends to create forums such as this he directed me here. I lurked for all of 20 mins before realizing if there is a better place for me I've yet to find it.
Situation: Wife and 3 adopted kids. They are all in the dark. My wife will turn a blind eye to our current situation until I'm dragging her to the BoV after frantically stocking supplies into it. The kids are 6, 7 and 9 the two eldest are boys.
I've just recently started prepping (better late than never) I've just traded off my beloved 1990 300zx manual 2 seater for the first short wheel based 4x4 suv I could get my hands on. Unfortunately it was a 1994 ford explorer eddie bauher<-(?) edition. its not bad and will get the job done (I guess).
After acquiring the 3 more mouths to feed the "roughin it" scenario ensued. Ive eaten more than my share of pinto,pink,northern, and every other bean you can imagine.
With money being an asset that flows from my pockets into every direction there is little left for preparation and supplies.
Intuition and resourcefulness has gotten me quite far in my initial preparation.
I'm currently gathering whats needed for a nice lil survive-all trailer which is my concern atm, any and all suggestions are welcome.

With coffee and cigarette in hand I have begun.
The aforementioned lack of money leads me to an amendment of "the situation" My internet is currently some wifi I'm leaching off of my neighbor somewhere from the southside of my house (trailer) its bellows forth sparatic signals in bursts like a dirty AR. So 90% of the time my connection to the virtual world of glory is limited to say the least.
A lot of my planning (as far as equipment is concerned that will have to be built) is done on google sketchup. I know it sounds stupid but if you set everything up properly you can tackle a lot of issues before handling raw material and save a bit of cash upon actual construction of said equipment. If you're somewhat computer savy and are as broke as I am this tool can become a priceless tool well worth the free download.

To be completely honest I've never had a problem with my M4 all through basic and while over seas. Not a single misfire, malfunction or remedial action was ever present. Though I was the only joe actually CLEANING his weapon in basic and a drop of oil never touched it over seas. But after every mission I brushed it thoroughly and ran a bore snake through it for good measure.
Dont laugh, but right now I'm running a good o'l russian made SkS just replaced the star stamped upper with one with integrated scope/reflex mounts. actually gashed my hand open pretty good prying one of the old scope rings off (one of the hex bolts was horribly stripped) gotta old tapco scope on it now haven't even gotten a chance to zero it. All the shooting i've done with it has been iron sights despite the fact I got the scope with it 10 years ago.

Did you know that if you pull someone's heart from their chest they can actually still be alive to see it pumping in your hand? Then they die. lol but still could you imagine a savage like me pulling your heart out and taking a bite as you watched? That would be a horrible way to go...just horrible.

LOL! Yeah. the end of 70 to 75. The ground pounders say the smell of Napalm gets them going in the morning. For me it's the taste of salt water. :)
Edit: I guess I should have said the ground pounders "used" to say the smell of napalm got them going in the morning. I think napalm was outlawed by treaty. It's a shame, that stuff could really cook a pig.

LOL! Yeah, I guess I could. But for everyone's information, and I do mean everyone. I don't cook with gelled gasoline or fertilizer. I use a gas grill or charcoal briquettes. Just saying. :)

Been working and dealing with the younglings so I obviously missed 2 pages of action here. I'm not going to quote all of it Hopefully everyone will kinda know what I'm talking about in correspondence to the thread.

Also, I've never been too big on the bashing of other branches. never really understood it. I do understand in the old days when guys would get bombed by pilots and such which would generate hatred for those guys but none of my buddies got blown up or shot by our guys so I'm not gonna knock ya... ya SQUID!

LOL! I never had the experience of friendly fire thank God. But that doesn't stop me from bashing the shit out of other branches when I'm feeling playful. It's kind of a competition sort of thing that's done with a feeling of affection. I admire anyone who raises their hand and takes the oath to serve and protect our country. I respect the hell out of ground pounders. I wouldn't tell them that though. :)

Since I was colorblind, I had to pick a different field than I wanted to go into. ( Hull Tech, a welder and plumber on the ship) So I chose Hospital Corpsman. And since the Navy Corpsmen and the Marines work together a lot. They look out for ya! If you're sitting in a bar and it looks like somebody might be giving you a hard time , the Marines were right there man. It was a good feeling to know that they had your back. Hats off to the USMC !
