Similar stuff like what we're living through today has happened many many times throughout history, the biggest difference is in the past "the People" always had the option to leave their area and travel to unpopulated lands to start over. Today the entire world has been populated and there is no place on the planet for freedom lovers to go. it truly is TEOTWAWKI...
Which brings my ponders back to the "relocation" thingie. True, there are no vacant continents nor many places you can't get an ATV into these days. But relocating in America is still possible with some fairly clearly delineated lines to chose from.
For instance, I'm still looking at property in Missouri online after a week's visit there. Currently in Flagstaff, AZ, I am something of a fish out of water socially. The neighborhood is retired and/or working and "progressive". The women are all incensed that the SC kicked abortion back to the States, their rights, their body, yadda, yadda, yadda... And men have no business even arguing the matter. The valley I live in is long and bordered by forest, not easily defended - even with the doling out of Baofeng radios.
My "Prepper Ways" are made fun of. Yet when the flag goes up... will a MAG be possible in light of developments or will I simply be overwhelmed 'cuz "I have stuff". It's not like I advertise but people know or think they have a pretty good idea of what their neighbor has, is doing. No depth to any team here. Good people but in denial and able to reinforce each others delusions on the basis of herd numbers. But I am established, marriage on rocks and feeling all 70 years.
OTOH, I see constant reassurances of the folk in area I'm looking at as having depth, basic living skills (they even know where their food comes form) and connections with community. Heck, a good many of the gardening and food and other pertinent topics I watch on YouTube are made by people hailing from Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, etc. But I have no family there and would be a newcomer starting from scratch.
Fort up in place, "behind enemy lines"? Or cede even more territory to the ignorant, frightened, Godless hosts? I'd at least like to serve as a bridge to help others across the chasms that are opened up, but where? "Here" is important. "There" they already seem to "have it covered".
Getting over a second Covid infection caught last week in Oregon trip, too much work to do to think straight and another NAVHDA trip starting this coming Thursday. As an example of what NOT to do, I am possibly Oscar rank material.
