OK so the whole Ukraine thing has been going on for a while. Not sure where it is going but we are getting hit pretty hard on fuel and energy costs here in the UK.

Unfortunately the west over the last decade or so have through action and weak political actions. Created a climate that allowed Russia to believe they could do what they are doing.

My fear is that other entities such as China will be emboldened by the current situation and act to capitalise on it. My worst fear is that inept politicians in the west make a mistake and get involved with boots on the ground. Thus stepping  closer to direct conflict. I do not think our administration has the experience or maturity to handle a nuclear capable state against another so armed conflict. I worry that they will panic at the wrong time and escalate to an unrecoverable level.

However. There is good news. The Russians are being met with western weapons systems. So we are seeing a good combat test of some of our tech. So far so good. Another item of interest is that Russia like China suffers from a huge amount of corruption within their military. This is is being shown by their Current effectiveness.

I am heart broken by the price that the Ukraine's are paying. Buy cannot help being proud of their strength of character and bravery.

Damn they are fighting hard. Good on them.

There is some evidence that Ukraine will soon have more tanks on the ground there than the Russians.   I have a sneaking suspicion of Putin have a bad stomach illness along with external migraine soon.   Things seem not at all working well for Russia.

Fuel and energy costs are stiff on this side the pond also.  Local gas prices are down to about $3.80 per gallon.  I'm sure you remember that price structure.

Recently it was in the $4.20 range for me above that for many over here.

Granted that side has been facing higher for years.

Link might be of interest.  The real headache of it was on election day a bit back it was about $2.25 or so.

I keep relaying this thought, the EU is economically strapped, almost as bad as Japan. They need a war to restructure their debt. Maybe go full Klaus Schwab ala the Great Reset/Build Back Better agendas. Currently, there is a shiton of EU investing money moving from EU investment houses to USA investment houses. That is why our market is relatively holding steady right now.

The question is, when not if, WW III going to start?

I have been hearing from friends in the military and around airbases. We are shipping a lot of big hardware over to eastern EU. Reservists have been notified that within a 48-hour notice, they will need to report to their designated bases. These airplane shipments are taking off and refueled before they cross the pond and then refueled before they break EU airspace for the final portion of the lift.

Putin has a knack for doing what he says he will do. He is not much of a saber rattler, he is a doer. If he says that nuclear is an option, he means it. He is already telling his citizens to get ready for a nuclear exchange. https://newsrnd.com/news/2022-04-18-%22russian-public-is-being-prepared-for-nuclear-weapons-use%22--bitter-insight.HJxKNGacVq.html
