 CONSPIRACY nuts are reportedly setting phone masts alight and targeting engineers after a bizarre claim 5G "radiation" caused the deadly coronavirus spread.

The theory originated last month after a video filmed at a US health conference claimed Africa was not as affected by the disease because it is "not a 5G region".

The myth was quickly debunked after the World Health Organisation confirmed there were thousands of Covid-19 cases in Africa.

The government has also confirmed there is "no evidence to suggest that 5G has anything to do with Covid-19".

Celebs have been slammed for sharing the conspiracy theory, including Jason Gardiner and Callum Best, who posted similar claims that 5G can impact the immune system.

But the claims have still been doing the rounds on WhatsApp via a lengthy voice note - with phone masts now being set alight in the UK.

Engineers are now also being targeted with social media users encouraging each other to destroy the masts in a Stop 5G Facebook group.

Police and fire crews were scrambled to one inferno in Birmingham last night when a 70ft mast erupted in flames.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated but both emergency service was able to confirm the fire was deliberate at this stage.

Hundreds of people have commented on shocking videos of the blaze posted on the Facebook group.

One person wrote: "Good needs to be done everywhere evil domination is coming".

Another said: "It is time to act now. Any 5g tower in your area burn it down! Collect people and stand and fight this. Act now before it’s too late!"

Others have posted pictures of masts near their homes, with users urging them to "destroy" it.

While one person in a separate group is keeping a "league" table for cities setting the masts on fire.

I saw that little gem. As with anywhere we do indeed have our share of idiots.

Someone started a rumour about the 5g masts causing COVID-19. So of course someone would try to destroy one.

As an update on the situation here.

We are two weeks into our semi lockdown. The government is starting to take this virus more seriously. However they are playing catch up as opposed to neing proactive.

The testing ability and numbers are Embarrassing  to say the least.

The medical system is ramping up as best they can. But the numbers will still be far to many for any system to handle. The decision has already been made to ration ventilators for people who have the best chance to survive. Equipment and supplies are a problem. Trained medical professionals is another difficulty. There just aren't enough. A large number voluntarily came out of retirement to help. They do however have volunteers and the military assisting where they can.

Due to the way the government is handling this thing. They only test those people that are taken to the hospital. So the numbers on the map do not show the whole picture over here. There continue to be people of all ages that die at home after being advised to stay home and fight the virus.

We have a close friend that we are providing support for. That is being hit hard by this in her wider family. Her uncle is expected to pass in the next few days from the virus and her mother who has health problems is fighting it at home. We are praying for them.

Now while the situation is indeed serious.

I must point out the positive things.

The nation and local communities have really pulled together in this. The health system and other services asked for volunteers and recieved more people than they can make use of at the moment.

Local communities have pulled together and organised in a way not seen since WWII. It is a very pleasant surprise.

as individuals, people always amaze me with compassion, selflessness sometimes even heroism.

as groups people are heard animals with appose-able thumbs.  Stupid, panicky, prone to acting without thinking and needing lots of toilet paper.

Gadget99 the USofA is in the same boat - The only major difference is one of perception - and our politicians wasted alot more time before acting.  it will show in the numbers.

People have to be dumber than a rock to think that 5G can cause a virus. 5G is going to be a terrible health issue in the future because of the continuous RF emissions at microwave frequencies but to think they can generate infectious disease is beyond stupid. I'm glad I live out in the country and most likely won't be close enough to be affected by 5G radiation.
