Great idea Ken!
Well I went into town and had a guy resharpen the two chains for $6- each. He had this fancy machine that did it. Got home and used one of my new chains and my saw cut through those logs like 'budda.'
At 4:30 or so I grabbed a couple pf 5 gallon jugs to refill before it got dark so I would have water later on to do the dishes. Well no water!
Walked the water line to the spring and the sieve / one way valve I am using to filter the water had a ball of alga around it the size of a soft ball. Had to clean that...re-prime the line and had water again. The whole time the frog who lives in the well stared at me and let out a croak every minute or so. Little bastard!
Was just sitting down to dinner and their was a tap at the door.
I opened the door and their was a young lad and his girl friend holding a beagle puppy standing there.
The girl friend said, "We were running our beagles and my boy friend truck is in the ditch down the dirt road...Can you help us?"
I asked if they wanted to use the phone to call AAA or did they want me to get the truck. In unison they said, "The truck!"
I told them that I would meet them down the road in a minute and changed back into my work digs and drove down. Yup...His truck was in a big ass ditch at a nice 45 degree angle.
After a brief discussion I told the young lad to hook the chain to his front axial and I was going to pull him out with the F-150. He insisted on me pulling him out from his stern; however I said, "Based on the angle that you drove into the ditch I am going to pull you out with bow first."
His girl friend told him to shut up and listen to me.
Well to make a long story short it worked without a hitch. As the young lad was uncoupling the chain from his front axial his girl friend came over and gave me a big hug and a peck on the cheek.
The guy wanted to pay me however I told him it was his obligation to help someone else in similar circumstances down the road.
Nothing better than cold two day left over piece of chicken pot pie, a glass of mediocre Chardonnay and a hug and peck on the cheek from a young gal.
I guess I made out O-Kay today... Advise from someone who knows and the ability to help someone too.
Thank you Lord, it was a good day.
