The quickest, cheapest and easiest items to prep are going to be hard goods stored in 5 gallon buckets/Mylar bags w/oxygen absorbers.
If you hit the local restaurant supply house you can buy 50lbs sacks of beans, rice and wheat for next to nothing compaired to the local super market's rate.
Try not to buy too much romen.. it doesn't last. Remember to pull those resources. The LDS is a wealth of info.
