Post by: Reaver on April 22, 2015, 02:24:10 PM
I'd like to apologize for my absence. I wrecked my bike last week and I've been recovering.  :suicide:

Dude......

Really glad to see that you are ok. Coming off a bike can really tear a person up if they are not wearing good protection.

Watching your video it appeared to me that there was a pothole you hit which started your front end wobbling and doing bad things.  Did you notice that or am I seeing things?  Also, how fast were you going.  Based on the 3 seconds you show I would estimate about 70.  Am I close.

Also, glad to see your not screwed big time.  A crash like that makes it easy to get totally screwed.  But now that you have busted the cherry (as you say) there is no need to do it again.

The pot hole I cleared by around 10-12 inches. Just looks close.
What actually happened was my rear tire lost traction on the white line and when it came off and grabbed again my nose came off the ground, problem with that is I was still counter steering so when my wheel hit again it was basically sideways. The traction slip alone was enough to throw me the wheel being turned sideways didn't help.
I was doing 50mph when it chucked me and distance traveled between air and ground was approximately 70 feet.

Right there ya go.  In that 70 feet in the air, between bike and ground, you did not flap your arms like wings.  If you did that you would have taken off and been in good shape for a soft smooth landing.  If you have the flying thing learned some.

Or so I hear.  It might take a couple tries to get the flapping part done right, not its generally better not to do them crashes just to practice.  Just practice when you are flying not by choice and the opportunity is happening despite your best intentions.

lol nemo  :suicide: Flying is hard my bones aren't hollow and I'm heavier than I used to be.

Got an update btw. Can't seem to modify the OP so I'll put it down here.

Total replacement comes to $4,200
To get her back in safe riding order is $1,800 the $1,800 includes a valve adjustment and new rear brakes. The only thing that would have been catastrophic was my triple tree was bent. Everything else was cosmetic and I'll replace over time.
Fearings =Death
gear lever = Death
Magneto Cover = Death
Lower Triple Tree = Death ( Catastrophic )
Carry handle/Handhold = Death

I'll be back on the road with a battle hardened Serenity by Wednesday/ Thursday only because they don't have the parts on hand.

Yeah, its a lot of money but I'm glad that's all that came out of this. Ride safe. RvR

I am more happy that you made it with only a few bruises, scrapes and B&B marks. You take care RvR.
