Yeah I should have been more clear.
We - as in my family.
We have what we need to deal with power cuts and such. Both short and long term.
The rest of society is intimately dependent on the power grid and will be a bit lost.
Now those that live here on the Isle Of Wight are a bit more resilient. We get interrupted power supply a bit more often do to storms and such. So people are less dependent. That the majority of the Island is rural and small villages helps with that. Country people are usually more ready for inconveniences than urban dwellers.
As a side note.
The Isle Of Wight is one of the few places that could be self sustaining food wise in difficult times. Other than electric power. The island economy is based upon primarily tourism with agriculture being a close second.
