My guess is that we're close. We may have an interesting Summer. Hopefully, if an event does occur, the Left will be put down hard

I think you're right except for the left being put down hard. I think they will be more violent as local PD's are told to stand down which will then lead to them being put down hard at the next uprising. The good people of America are sick and tired of being bullied (mentally and physically) by these left wing nut jobs :chuky:

on the French revolution - didn't Marie Antoinette say something about letting them eat cake?
On our current POTUS - i seem to remember something about chocolate cake :)
rebellions and counter revolutions are a staple of our society. I suppose you could substitute Jacobian with Trumpeters and the French aristocracy with wall street and come to the realization that society is always teetering on an edge. we careen through life in a multi-generational cycle. You can state with absolute certainty that it will fall apart. If someone says it will start on next Tuesday at 3:15 PM, you can state with almost the same certainty they will be wrong.
I suppose the limousine liberals and industrialists and the bankers and the Russians and (add your favorite boogeyman here) are fighting a proxy war. As a middle class schlub i'm stuck, well, in the middle - if i had delusions of grandeur, i could call myself a pawn. At best i'm simply trying to not be a victim to well produced propaganda.
the thing i find interesting is we as individuals recognize the danger but not the moment it changes - the
proverbial black swan event. I prep because black swans tend to be almost random and entirely unpredictable. The high impact, low frequency random event.
I did find the comment about the pendulum swinging back toward normalcy a bit short sighted. the pendulum describes normalcy. In its march from one 'extreme' to the next it sets the boundaries of our current zeitgeist. It is when its momentum changes suddenly that we are thrown into chaos.

I understand the pendulum thing, but I see it as a road going up and down a mountain. Socialism is at the bottom of the mountain and Capitalism is at the top. We usually are somewhere part way up the mountain. The problem is.... once you start to go down the hill toward Socialism, the people find it more comfortable to coast down to the bottom than to struggle to the top. Once you start down the road to Socialism, you cannot stop until it crashes in a train wreck at the bottom. Some people have the wisdom to not stay in one place and they struggle towards the top but others choose to ride up the mountain on the backs of the hard working people or chose to take the easy ride down to the bottom. With the weight of all the slackers on your back, you can't make it to the top. However, you are still better off than the idiots at the bottom of the hill. There are some who make it all the way to the top but they are severely criticized as unfeeling brutes because they beat the crap out of the leaches on their backs and left them bleeding beside the road.

@pkveazey--AMEN brother
The one comment in the article that stood out for me was
For the radical, murder becomes a sacrament.
With the group ANTI First Amendment (ANTIFA) learning how to shoot and Black Lives Matter's riots we're almost there.
