Can you Feel it?
« on: August 11, 2015, 10:00:09 AM »
IMO, we are getting close to the SHTF. Do you feel it?

Here is a recent posting from Frank of Frank & Fern fame.

Quote
Brace For Impact

Hi Everybody, Frank here.

Been paying attention to the news lately? Well, you know all the problems in Greece are solved. The Chinese markets are all doing great. Our unemployment problem here in the United States just about doesn't exist. You know those precious metals we talk about all the time? Gold and silver? They're going through the ceiling. The European economy is going great guns. Our economy here in the
United States has set record highs this year. And that pesky Middle Eastern war? Everybody has just kissed and made up. Life is grand and we're all back on the happy train again! I can hear them singing, Happy Days Are Here Again! So let's all run down and buy us a brand new car, refinance our house, take out more student loans, and go into debt just as far as we can, because we all know that debt is good! We've been told this for the last 50+ years, so it must be true...

Johny

Chinese devalued their currency today....to say the Chinese economy is not doing well is an understatement.

Gold is way down and Silver is down 45% over what it was when FiL bought 200 Silver Eagles about 16 months ago.  But I presume that paragraph is serious   :sarcasm:

Could be wrong.

Remember, deflation usually happens before hyperinflation.

We are experiencing deflationary times in commodities, e.g. gold, silver, copper, oil, etc.

Stay tuned...

The Death Cross Forms on the Dow Chart
Joseph Ciolli, August 11, 2015 — 2:04 PM EDT

The Dow Jones Industrial Average’s biggest decline in a month is proving the final nail in its death cross.

That’s what technical analysts call it when the 50-day moving average falls below the 200-day mean, a formation that was achieved today as the gauge declined for the eighth time in nine days. The pattern is commonly interpreted as a signal price momentum is fizzling out.

“If you don’t make any upside progress, the moving average will start to flatten and eventually turn down,” Jonathan Krinsky, chief market technician at MKM Holdings LLC, said by phone. “There are fewer and fewer stocks holding up the market, and that’s generally not a good thing.”

The 30-company Dow’s moving averages have been on a collision course since Apple Inc., which has the eighth-heaviest weighting, dropped 7.4 percent on July 22. The iPhone maker tumbled another 4.9 percent today, bringing its decline from a February high to 14 percent.

And if you believe him:

Quote
Presidential candidate Trump: China devaluation will devastate US
12 Hours Ago, Reuters

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday said China's devaluation of the yuan would be "devastating" for the United States.

"They're just destroying us," the billionaire businessman, a long-time critic of China's currency policy, said in a CNN interview.

"They keep devaluing their currency until they get it right. They're doing a big cut in the yuan, and that's going to be devastating for us."

Earlier on Tuesday, China devalued its currency following a series of poor economic data in the yuan's biggest fall since 1994. Some said this could signal a long-term slide in the exchange rate.

China has been a frequent theme for Trump since he entered the 2016 presidential campaign, promising to be a tougher negotiator with Beijing in order to bolster the U.S. economy.

"We have so much power over China," he told CNN. "China has gotten rich off of us. China has rebuilt itself with the money it's sucked out of the United States and the jobs that it's sucked out of the United States."

Interesting info Nemo.

Apple is indeed down. It doesn't make sense as they beat their goals/projections. I can only assume that the Annalist's may have thought Apples projections were to low and talked up the stock to their clients.

Got a bit of powder stored so to speak and I'm starting to pull the trigger on some "other" commodities. Picked up another generator head a couple weeks ago and I'll be looking at an old VW diesel rabbit tomorrow. Got a line on an old Saturn 4 door as well. A few recent cheap finds were an old 1969 Case 195 and a nice pile of hand tools. One I'm really hoping comes thru is an old grain silo for scrap price. Hard inherently valuable commodities are starting to show up cheap lately (seems I've seen this happen before) and I'm not going to let the good stuff slide by. Hope my crystal ball ain't bullshittin me.

RIGHT ON Colombo! If I remember right, the Case 195 is in the 12-14 hp range. Perfect for a gentleman farmer  :tractor: Now you need a few attachments like a single bottom plow, rake and maybe a hauling trailer.

What kind of fuel are you running in the Gen? Maybe a back up propane carburetor if it is petrol.

Hope my crystal ball ain't bullshittin me.

But if it is a bit ahead of schedule or cloudy some such, you got great stuff for good prices that are long term usable.

The US stock market is a Ponzi Scheme.

A bunch of rich people that manipulates the value of everything.
When times are good, the rich sells their investments to the poor, making them look good in the eyes of the prospector, thinking they are going to get rich if they buy into that stock.
When the stock drops, the poor people says - that wasn't such a smart investment and they sell their stocks, hopefully before they fall below the price that the speculator paid for them.

The Investor is in it for the long term.  He does not sway by what the market is doing today and looks at the long term investment.  What is this stock going to be worth 50 years from now?

When the Chinese devalue's their money, it allows the American's to buy their products and services at a much cheaper rate of exchange - drives down the cost of the item, there by releasing more dollars that can be spent.
This re enforces their currency, as they get us to buy more and more of their goods and services.

The town I live in did not have a McDonalds until 20 years ago.  As a matter of fact, they had no fast food joints at all.  Today there is a half a dozen.
30 years ago, the town I live near had two dozen small diners within a 15 mile radius, now there is maybe 10.

40 years ago - there was a dozen grocery stores within 5 miles of my home, now there is three.

30 years ago - my dollar was worth more and I could buy more in the grocery store.

When a big off name chain store came to town, the smaller stores went out of business and only three remained.

When WalMart came to town, they drove two of the stores into bankruptcy, and the one remaining store is darn near ready to close.  Only Aldi's - with their large chain of stores can compete with WalMart.

As each store closed, the cost of grocery's escalated.

When only WalMart remains - you will pay $5.00 for a gallon of MILK and $4.00 for a loaf of bread and $2.00 for a can of soup!  Only the people on public assistance will be able to afford to go grocery shopping.

This makes fast food attractive.
No cooking, no dishes, no left overs, just drive up, pay and eat.

They did a study on rats and they found that when you feed a rat nothing but fast food, the whole rat population will become obese.
Within two generations the rats develops diabetes and within 3 generations the rats becomes sterile - can't have little rats..

The short term gains of shopping at a Walmart Super Center is that you can get a couple of things today - Cheap!
But when they drive the competition out of business, you will be at the mercy of WalMart - which is probably owned by the Chinese anyways!

So the American's are brainwashed with their cell phones and their fast food is killing them and the pollution made by buying cheap plastic junk, using it for a while and then throwing it in the trash is coming back to haunt us!

Go figure - how long did it take for Rome to fall?

Can't anyone learn from History?
