Title: Advertising on StraightPrep?
Post by: thatGuy on February 14, 2012, 08:37:19 PM
So I was talking to a Vendor about ordering some parts. I was put in touch with him by a user of the board who told him about us.

I know it is ultimately my call but I was wondering how you guys would feel about setting up a vendor section where folks in the industry could come and advertise their best price. I was thinking of a discount for forum users instead of a paid advertisement. Seems like a better deal for the vendors and us... well you.

Sound off.

I'm down for a vendor section, but don't pollute this place with sidebar ads.

First off. Your welcome.

Second. You could have a lot more then firearms parts and accesories . Online food stores. Liquor stores any thing we prep could give us a discount. Remeber we buy in bulk. Most people dont

We were thinking of having a section dedicated to vendors, no banners and no sidebar adds.

Remind me Sledge.. I got a mind like a steel trap, its rusty as fuck and doesn't let anything out!

I think you should set up an ad account and take the per click.  Use those funds to pay for the site, do videos, and run contests.  Or take your wife out to a nice dinner.    :)

Think this is a great idea. Seen it work really well on other sites, and no annoying ads on the site. Go fer it!

When you start making all this 'mad money' from ads, will the moderators get a raise?  O0

I think it's a great idea, as long as you don't let just any vendor post. By that, I mean allowing a vendor, who you know produces low-quality crap, post here for sale. I would consider that irresponsible to the membership.

We were thinking only top shelf vendors who are leading the industry instead of 'Al's china made airsoft shop.'

Another thing to was we are going to do is make the vendor pass the savings onto you rather than pay the site. This isn't thatGuy Enterprizes.

I don't know if you guys know this or not but all day long we are logging guest hits on this site, everytime I check the stats there is twice as many guests on the site than members and they don't get counted as views. We are the most lurked site on the web.
