... not that anybody gives a crap.
We sold our home in RI. The closing was last Friday. Although Hurricane Sandy did a pretty good job of helping us minimize crap it is still a big chore to box up and get ready for the loading folks to load the POD.
The loading folks were supposed to be here Tuesday however I called it off and rescheduled for Thursday. A nice little Nor'easter was rolling in today and it would have been a bloody mess.
Living on a boat most of early life and then living here for 20 years, we have never used a commercial mover to move us. This time we went the POD route.
PODs are a great alternate way to move your stuff. The POD people evaluate what you have to move, recommend one of their specific size PODS, then drop it off. You can load it or pay a few guys to load it. Being on the wrong side of 50, I hired a company through PODS to load the POD.
Once it is loaded you throw a lock on the door, call PODS, and then they come and pick it up. It can be put in storage or sent directly to "where-ever". We opted to put it into storage while we secure a place to sort it out for sale and or use.
The cost for you folks who might be interested going this route was $2K for the POD, storage and transportation to the our location in NE PA. Plus another $1K for the loaders. So far it is a pretty slick and inexpensive option.
Well there you go folks...
