I just hung up with 1000 MS who is driving back to Indiana for Thanksgiving. He was currently between Bismark and Fargo. I-94 was down to one lane in each direction and the average speed was 45 MPH due to snow. Thank GOD he had purchased some snow tires for his Prius finally. Just before he hits Fargo I hope he heads south on 29 down to I 90. Then according to doppler he should be clear sailing.
Only bringing this up because if you are a praying or hoping man/women, pray or give good thoughts for one of the old time UP guys on his journey east.

You know he is traveling in the same direction as the storm? He will be in it for a long time.
-
Good thoughts his way, and I really hope he took a properly loaded sack with him. One of those just in case thingamabobs.

Yeah guys. I told him to pull over at the next hotel/motel he saw. He was reluctant to do as he wanted to get ahead of the storm.
1000M is a former Army paratrooper so he has flown a bit over his life time YET he will not fly now. Instead he is driving a flippen Prius 1,300 miles. He knows how to live. :suicide:

Smart, can't carry neccessary gear on a plane.
-
Current flight rules on passenger planes prohibit chutes. If he could carry his own I suspect he might fly.

Good wishes for a safe journey to him and everyone else travelling today. I know I'm glad to be tucked safe at home today!

Wellie, how much snow you gotz? @ 12:30P today we have 4.5". Good luck.

About 6". It's gorgeous snow, too. The trees on the mountain were silvery and the snow flakes were huge, fat, fluffy jewels falling in a peaceful rustle.

Wellie, the youthful excitement of the first good snow storm of the year always returns to MrsMac & I and today again it returned.
Just sent 1000M a text asking him where he was. Hopefully he is in Indiana and has a cold beer in his hand at this point.
Driving 1,300 miles in a flippen Prius at this time of year...What a whack-a-doodle. ;D

Got a text @ 1230AM that he had arrived in Indiana 33 hrs post leaving ND. The Prius made it! ;)

Thank for the update JM.

The Prius doesn't get any manliness points, but damn does it get great gas mileage! I ribbed my dad when his wife got one, but then I saw how well it drove and how little gas it uses. I shut up.
