It seems that Dave Sarti, YT's "dsarti1," (also appearing in Nat Geo's "Doomsday Preppers,") has really stirred a hornet's nest with this one.

EDIT: Because he has removed the video, I'll sum it up here...

He advocates "poisoning" a small (secretly marked for ID by owner) portion in each food cache....so that in the event he is overrun by thugs or 'gun preppers', he will have the last laugh from the grave.

What do y'all think?

I dont really pay attention to Dave but I don't think he is the brightest guy at times. I bet he'll end up poisoning himself and those that hunker down with him.

I wont poison my food stores.

Side Note: I think that is a waste of food. Poisoning it ahead of time and it is useless to raiders and yourself. Poisoning food when raiders arrive is a waste of reaction time.

I mean why wouldn't you just have some poison, than if you needed to poison some food, you could use it, if not, than you don't have to stare at poisoned food while starving like thatguy said?

I poison some of my food stores, dont use cynide though. Castor beans and pinto beans look alot alike and if your not looking for them you will never notice them. Ingesting 2 beans will kill an adult in about 3 very painful days.

I'm not real big on the poison your food idea. If I buy it or grow it I plan to use it. If someone or group is able to take it away from me and the people in our group then he is one bad MF or extremely lucky. More power to him if he gets by me he's probably going to be a survivor.

I don't feel the need to get even or for revenge. For what? The strong, the clever, and the determined will survive if things ever go to total crap.

Your basically talking about a booby trap. Those are notorious for getting the wrong people anyway.

The beans have a specific date on them so there I know exactly which ones they are. I doing this in the event I get over ran and have to get out I will take as much of my food as i can. Then a week later move back in and probe the area and hopefully be able to move back in with out too much of a fight.

After learning a little more about the situation I will say that I have some understanding of WHY he would do what he talked about. That doesn't excuse him in my mind or make me retract the full retard comment. I still think the way that he presented this, and the substance of the message were way out of frakkin line for someone that is going on NatGeo and supposed to be a "role model prepper". Not to mention that the guy looked beyond bat shit crazy while making the video...

I know the man's got hater's, most of us do but especially the ones that put themselves under the hottest spotlight. I don't think he should have made the video in the first place, all he did was fan the flames and make himself look like a total douche in the process. He should have just let it be and have the last laugh when the SHTF came. I haven't been subbed to him in a long time and shit like this is the reason why. He may be an alright guy and put out some good info, but I didn't feel the need for him to take up more of my sub box anymore.

I'm not saying you are wrong WTurkey. People are going to do what they are going to do. I just look at it differently.

If I'm over run and am forced to abandon my bol those involved are classified as a continuing threat in my mind. Remove the threat. I'll track them, snipe them, ambush them, attempt to have them look for me on my terms. They won't be able to relieve themselves, eat , or sleep without wondering if they are in that moment in my cross hairs until they are no longer a threat.

It's not about revenge, it's about removing the threat. One way to accomplish that would be to poison the food. That's just not the way I choose because of the potential unintended consequences. I'm big on attempting to control all situations as much as possible. I would know what I poisoned. Others who weren't a threat probably wouldn't.

When I do it those in my group will know what bags have the castor beans in them. When i say group im not talking about my community. Each member of my group will be expected to share in cooking so I will make sure they know what is what. I have a place set up in the house I will be at that we can hide all the safe food that we cant carry out, leaving just the beans for the invaders to chow down on. A week later I can come back and most of if not all of the threat will be gone.

When you poison your food you are basically giving the go ahead for murder, not self defense. The only exception I give is when you absolutely know you will be overrun and your gonna give them nothing but misery when the get to your stores, in which case, all available food left, must be destroyed or poisoned, but this scenario is very unlikely due to time. The idea of poisoning food ahead of time could be detrimental, as one day you may need it for yourself, and two, if you are poisoning food already cached somewhere, how are they gonna find it in the first place?

This just goes beyond reason for me personally, as the likelihood of you killing someone after you are gone, is high and in which case, makes you a murderer.
