U.S. PALM is out of business
« on: August 06, 2017, 09:28:06 PM »
Posted on their IG and Facebook accounts today.

Too bad was planning on buying a few chest rigs and NOD Garages when I had money and they were avaliable.

Looks like I'll have to learn to sew.  :suicide:

Unfortunately that has been coming for a while. I am surprised they have lasted as long as they did.

Expect to see more manufacturers in the 2nd half of the year. The market is getting incredibly cluttered leading to compressed prices. Profitability is way down.....some can survive through it through product and market diversity....many wont.

Also since Trump was elected alot of preppers feel they are not in a hurry anymore and slowed down.

I've hurried up, and I'm filling in my weak spots.  In any case, I second Gadsden Dynamics.  They produce top tier gear!

Yeah for many the normalcy bias set in and hard. This isnt just preppers. It is one of the very things hurting the firearms manufacturing. Everybody jumped on the bandwagon expecting Hillary. When Trump was elected the buyers just stoped and too a breath. This resulted in an extreme excess of inventory at every level. Now prices are dropping through the bottom and munufacturers are selling at prices that can not sustain and keep them viable just to try and recover any bit they can.

An extreme example is the silencer industry.  With Trumps election the masses seemed to thing the HPA would get passed immediately which is an absolute pipe dream for anyone that actually understands how our government works. This collective "wait for it" approach for something that is who knows how far away has been devastating to silencer manufacturers. More than a couple have had to cut staff to the bone to avoid closing completely.

Even the training community has had a slow down. Many quality trainers that had classes so full they were wait listed are now consolidating training dates to get classes full enough to be worth holding.

It seems lie people think Trump was the messiah that has instantly "fixed" all of the ills of the country from their point of view.  People better wake the F up and quick.

Rant over.

Your right. I have doubled down but I a limited prepper budget so I've been selling off stuff.
With NKorea putting anti ship cruise missiles on a patrol boat has kicked it up a notch.

I am not familiar with the US Palm company so I have kept my thoughts to myself however JoJo and CJS06 brings some good points to the forefront of the conversation. In short, Since Mr. Trump has taken office many folks, survivalists, militia types, and preppers have taken the pressure off the accelerator.

Not 100% sure but I think I have written earlier that many gung-ho preppers have slowed their march or stopped altogether. My brother is an excellent example of this.

With that written, MrsMac and I have not slowed down. We are focused now on equipment rather than typical prepping things like canning jars, seeds, lighting, et cetera.

By the way, what a great time to amp up your prepping as prices for weapons, ammo, firearm accessories, et cetera is at a ten year low.

Just food for thought....

Johny

Ammo prices are way down compared to even a year ago.  It is a good time to stock up on not just training ammo, but also if you like "duty" ammo as well. For instance you can get 77gr 5.56 for about the price that much of the 55gr M193 was going for just 12-18 months ago.

Not familiar with the company so will as JM said keep my thoughts to myself.

However I have noticed something to mention.

I have noticed that there are a good number of preppers that are prepping for a specific event that they believe may happen.

I believe this is a potential weakness. Potentially leading to failure. Prepping should be directed to answer the effects of the potential events.

Not saying my way is the only way though.

We are prepping for capability. All of our prepping targets providing the capability to manage through the effects of unfolding damaging events.

This methodology provides the ability to survive through the generalized SHTF the comes from any number of threat events.

I hope this makes a bit of sense.

Cheers all.

I am not sure about prepping to any specific event or class of events.

I look more toward the idea of prepping for a general need of having prepped in case the need for having prepped for something bad happening on a regionwide/nationwide/worldwide scale.

US Palm has a full page of listings (with lots unavailable) on opticsplanet.com.

But don't buy through there.  They don't sell AR magazines or any pistol mag over 10 rounds.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

I should have been more clear.......

When I say that I have noticed a trend in the prepping community. I should have stated that the trend I noticed is evident in the wider sense as opposed to those on this board.

One of the things I like about this forum is that the members are pretty well rounded and sensible.

My notice of narrow view prepping comes from observing the vastly wider prepping community. Not all, yet some of them I have noticed have been fixated upon one or a few potential shtf scenarios and prep specifically for those risks.

This in my opinion can open them up for failure in a general sense from missing out on common sense preps.

I wondered if this has been noticed by anyone else here.

I have noticed a bit of specific event type prepping.  Life would be grand for those if that thing happened.  But they would be in the handbasket if it was something else.

I'm sure the OP has already found another source for an AK chest rig, but if not, check out my friend John at UW Gear:

http://uwgearinc.com/swamp-fox-4.html

This is the best AK chest rig I know of. I used the US Palm one back when Gabe Suarez was pushing them. It wasn't bad, but I'm not much on bungee cord retention (especially not on AK mags due to the curvature).

I came across John's rig back in early 2014 when I was looking for a new chest rig for my AK and something flashier than the Chinese Type 81 rig I was using. I still have that first rig and have added a few more since. He and I collaborated on a design a while back of the AR. It was an 8 magazine version of the split front Swamp Fox. JohnnyMac has seen and handled it. Bombproof gear.

On the prepping note, couldn't agree more with the sentiment of people waking up. There's not a political solution.

Both UW and Gadsden Dynamics are supporters of UnchainedPreppers. Both are good honest businesses that make quality products.

+1 for UW gear. Have two chest rigs from there and they are amazing!

Glad to see you join us misfits. Your Swamp Fox is awesome in the field, and the double mag pouch works great as a radio pouch. It survived the incredibly rainy weather in NC this past weekend and is super comfortable.

Patriotman, I didn't notice this past weekend, were you sporting a 4 or 8-Mag Swamp Fox?

It has 4 built in mags and then I added two double mag pouches. One is used for the radio and the other can either hold 2 mags or act as an admin pouch.

I will bring it when I come up.
