To be fair, all brands of modern handguns have issues that might require factory repair. Mine has run flawlessly with about 700+ rounds through it, all kinds of ammo brands.

I've read a lot of stories like yours, a lot that have minor instances of repair needs, some with with great CS stories, some with horrible CS stories...it just seems to be all over the board.

One guy said he bought a G2. It performed as yours has, flawlessly, and he loved it so much he recommended it for his son. His son bought one, and had problems with it immediately. Two factory repair trips later, still didn't work, sold it.

Getting a good Taurus just seems to be a 50/50 hit or miss thing, and that is a much higher instance of QC issues than other popular manufacturers (other than Hi Point). If I KNEW I would get one of the good ones, I'd buy it, no questions asked. I just barely have the money to buy one, let alone get a bad one, pay $100 or more during shipping for repairs to maybe get it fixed correctly, and all the while my wife (who already is not in love with guns) is seeing the process and hassle.

I'm actually kind of irritated with Taurus' history of bad QC. I really, really want to love the G2.

Palmetto has them on sale for $239.
Had quite a few customers use my FFL for their transfer.
They seem to like them but meh. I'm not excited about many handguns without "CZ" on the side of them these days.

I also picked up one of these guns.

Looks good, shoots well, feels good and less than 60%  the price of the other gun I was looking at.
Only negative is it only came w/ 2 mags and those are hard/expensive to get.
But I think I can manage just fine w/ 2.

Thanks for posting that, Crudos.

Erick, any further experience you could share since you got yours? Sounded like when you last posted, you had not had it that long.

Picked up another one. :)

they function well, and the price point makes them ideal for caching.

Have not tried them for that.
I consider them Compact not sub-compacts.
But some do call them sub compacts but since they are double stack mags in my mind they are still Compacts.

Have you successfully carried  a compact in that position?

I tend to be someone who votes with his feet and/or pocketbook.
Cheap, Shoots fine, reliable enough, feels good, (except the trigger ha s bit of a lenghty pull, ah well, nothing is perfect), nice features feels like a gun twice the price.

So I have four PT111 G2s now.

One for each corner of the house

I have only carried a Ruger LCP on the ankle, years ago, but I've been told that the compact doublestacks like the M&P 9 Compact can fit in an ankle holster. Of course, you'd need to get used to the weight (not let it affect your stride) as well as have wider pant legs to better prevent printing, especially when sitting, crouching and stretching.
