SOG multi-tool fail *Updated*
« on: August 30, 2013, 09:50:28 PM »
Picked up a new, but discontinued SOG PowerLock B60 multi-tool and cracked the pliers the very first day of light use. FML. Back to the factory it goes and see how they do on their lifetime warranty claim.

Wow, that sucks really bad Crudos, besides that multitool looks like a heavy duty version.

I have a black Leatherman super tool 300 and it withstand abuse like nothing, I specially love how sharp the knife blade is.

I will give SOG the benefit of the doubt on this one, and see if they make it right. This is my first item from SOG, so they aren't starting off very well.  :DrillSgt:

Better to find out now then when you really need it. :)

When I use to work at the marine retailer we carried SOG and Leatherman.

It wasn't often but it did happen - SOG's would be returned broken. In the 20 years I worked there I do not remember one Leatherman being returned due to failure though.

Well the tool is at SOG's warranty shop for repair. They seem to be fairly on top of things, hope it comes back this coming week. So far, so good with SOG.

The tool came back today, and am very pleased with their warranty/repair department. Installed a brand new plier head and lock bar for it. Would buy from them again.

Let's hope it doesn't break in the middle of the woods or on a SHTF situation.
Sorry I would never trust a multitool that broke on my hand :S

eh, everyone gets bad heat treating now and then.  I wouldn't have a multi-tool in the woods myself.  Their weight to result ratio is too low for my taste.  In the truck or range bag they do well though.

The real test of customer service is if the company paid for shipping both ways?

In the woods a multitool can be of great help to cut wires, bushcrafting some items etc.

They offered to ship the part to me for free and diy. But did pay $5 shipping to send to them. No biggie, they shipped the tool back for free.
