Just got in my newest pair Combat Gloves.
Mechanix IMPACT in multicam :D
(while I prefer the Wiley Xs and also have a pair of those, these Mechanix are less than half the price at 30 bucks)
Even tho these are "tactical" gloves, IMO from a prepper standpoint they are also good safety gloves when moving in a broken city, but you still need more dexterity than old school work gloves can provide.
Remember human skin is a nearly 100% barrier against infection but it is not evolved for an environment full of broken rebar, concrete and glass....
I am going to use these when I got to Max Velocity CTT in 10 days. :)

Those look wicked!! I've been a huge fan of the Mechanix gloves for a long time now even though I'm not willing to shell out the extra $10 for the go faster ones.
-
BTW I feel their size falls out ever so slightly on the large side and such gloves should be worn tight for best dexterity
So I order the L size not XL.... the L are fitting me perfect and I am 6'0 225lbs

You seem to be a big guy, but what matters is you thumb size. Ask any woman around.

Have a pair of the regular ones in multicam, love them. Interested in knowing how the Impact version holds up to MV's training.

It seems to do ok, but after a combined CTT and Patrol Class there was some wear on a previous one i had.
But in all fairness ot the product I DID hold it over an open fire with my hand in it several times to warm up and watch the wetness steam out of it over the fire..
...aaaah... I still remember the warmth form that :D
My buddy is using it now and still likes it

Mechanix are good gloves! If you buy the gloves from 5.11 Tactical or other similar companies you are wasting money.
With that written, money is a bit tight right now so I bought a pair of Kobalt at Lowes and have been very happy with their performance and durability. Lately I have been using them for actual work not shooting :o

You do work? ? ? Let me get my hat.

I had mechanix gloves for a sign spinning job once and they didn't make it to the end of the 4hour shift.
Now for security work i use petzel rock climbing gloves and love them. I havent used them in a carbine class but have for everything else. I like 'em, i like' em alot.

I was just going to ask about that. Do they expand in the negative easy?
What I mean is, is it decently comfy to expand the fingers past where they are supposed to go? I ask because i like the look and think they would make good riding gloves but fresh gloves on brake and clutch tend to hurt like a lot. So if they are decent it won't hurt so bad to bust them into place.

I suppose one could make that argument about anything. I'll just keep my Pig Alphas, they work for me. Gloves are a consumable item anyway. They all wear out if they're used.
Besides all that, I liked the quote about them ...
So much sensitivity that you can wear these on your next date with PALMela HANDerson.

There are some fairly good sales around on the Mechanix Impacts if you look. Not on the new style and Multicams, but generally easy to find leftovers in tan or woodland in the older style( they changed the pattern of the knuckle padding). I picked up a couple of pairs in Dec because as Brat pointed out they are consumables. Definitely get the size down from what you normally wear for a good snug fit.
I also like the PIG's they hold up great. OR makes some great gloves but I can buy 3 pair of Mechanix for the price of the ORs and they only hold up marginally longer.
