Infared invisability???
« on: July 27, 2018, 03:35:03 PM »
 Check this out. I don't think it will work in the city and I would think there might be some design flaws when it comes to defense or offensive fire.

   That's an interesting design, though I'm skeptical as to how it would perform in real life.  The important thing with IR is to not stand out from the surrounding background.  Heat is an issue, yet lack of heat can be a problem too.  Whatever you're using to cloak yourself with should be at the same ambient temperature as your surroundings so that you blend in.  I like typical night vision gear, but I really like thermal scopes.  A decent thermal scope will even show recent footprints on the ground from residual body heat.  The ones that I typically use aren't great for fine definition, but they are effective enough to detect a human sized target at a distance of at least 150 yards in thick vegetation.

I have an Infrared device that works great out to more than 150 yards. The chance that someone is wearing infrared proof clothing is next to zero. Mine is like a set of binoculars and is sensitivity adjustable. I'm out in the Boonies and plan to use it to see if Bad Guys are approaching at night. I've tested it on my dog when he is at the edge of my property and it lights him up like a perfect Dog shape.

I cannot vouch for how practical this suit is.. but in general these approaches DO work fellas.
MVT sold an anti IR tarp for a while and National Guard Apaches with $200,000 thermal sights could not see thru them.

good comments;
the thermal barrier sold for sub-floor insulation works great for blinds, OPs, hides and other low observable fixed points.  Or if the flora permits, just set up under a big pine tree.

Hey Erick, did Max stop selling that tarp? If so do you know why?

Basically it was a mylar type material that you tented out about 3 feet above the ground which kept you heat signature very low.

Keep abreast of J6 arrestees at https://americangulag.org/ Donate if you can for their defense.

   There's a company selling a tarp similar to MVT's, but it's substantially cheaper: http://www.sierrasurvivalgear.com/survival-blanket-stealth-shelter/   I haven't seen one in person, but plan on ordering one as soon as funds allow, because the prices seems reasonable compared to some others that I've seen.

    I have close contact with an Agency that performs a lot of search and rescue work.  They often use IR detection equipment in both helicopters and drones.  Their success rate is not very high, so I'm inclined to believe that when there's ample vegetation that it's difficult to perform an aerial search depending upon conditions.  During the colder months, a person will stick out like a sore thumb.  I've read that IR is less effective in warm conditions.  However, a person would definitely stick out in a desert environment at night due to the lack of vegetation and cooling temperatures.

@jackalope For that kind of money you would think it would be big enough for two people.

I've used arcturus tarps to protect wooden instruments during travel -  there several on amazon.
they are mylar lined ripstop tarps - should diffuse a heat signature.
the prices have come way down, under $20 now. linked below.
not sure that's what you were looking for.
