apx, you jackass. Yeah, it's a habit I'm trying to kick but around here clip is much more commonly used than mag or magazine.
My first choice was the Vektor z88 or more commonly available Beretta m9, purely because I have the most experience with it due to the fact that it was standard issue for South African Police Service and that's where I learned to handle a firearm. It's incredibly reliable and built like a Panzer but unfortunately it's very large and heavy for a concealed edc and parts are less widely available.
I love the Glock range due to it's availability, intercompatibility of parts between ranges, the comfort of the grip, ease of modification and it's light enough for Mrsninja to be comfortable with if she needs to.
I looked at the G42 but I had a few concerns. I've never fired one because I have never met anyone who owns one, 9mm rounds are more common than .308, I had no idea how to grip it (It's like it was getting lost in my hand, even Mrsninja said is was too small for her and she can't get a full grip on the 17) and through all my searching over the last 3 years only 1 local trader stocks it.
I appreciate the feedback. I think that, for now, the 17 is out. if I do end up with the 26 then I'll likely get the 17 at a later stage too but I'm leaning even more towards the 19 now. I agree with what has been said about a larger weapon being more comfortable and manageable under pressure and that is incredibly important. with all the options available for holsters I'm sure I'll find a way to conceal it.
as for training, I'm obsessive about training. everything that I use or believe I MAY need to use at some point I practice frequently. even now without my own firearm I often go to the range, buy a few rounds for whatever is available and make sure that my eye is still in so once I have my own I will likely be at the range several times a week (It's about 4 minutes drive from home).
