I've never used that FL before.
speaking to the electronic characteristics;
the LED is a cree with a good trackrecord designed with an integral heat sink - good MTBF and wear (dimming) characteristics.
No more AA's it uses the cr123 or a single tesla battery. The lithium cr123 has a good shelf life.
-the 18650 battery is rechargeable and common enough, its used in vape e-cigs.
there are several cheaper variations using that same electronic set-up. unless you need the dimensions or case features, you may be able to find cheaper by searching either the LED or batteries for other options.
the only down side in the specs is the highpower mode - it will dissipate 10W across its surface area. it might get a bit warm to the touch in constant use. - any internal plastic parts may soften.
