Ballistic Eyewear

So this is not a review but a request for some of yours.

I've finally worn out all my old issued ballistic eyewear lenses and I'm sick of peaking through the scratches. 
And so I'm looking for Idea's for replacements!

   Who here's got some glasses they want to brag about?  

I've personally used
Oakley - M frames: Super comfortable hinges constantly broke...


Uvex - Genesis glasses: Full coverage lenses, yet no snags, lenses scratched near instantly.


ESS - ICE glasses: Used these the longest, frames uncomfortable.

We used to use Wiley X.   But we were also worried about shrapnel.
they worked well.  I have an Rx for glasses and they worked fine and fit nicely with a KPOT.

Went with Wiley X Roamer 3's for my RX this year.  Very good side protection (100%) and comfortable.

I always used the Revision Sawflys. Absolutely horrible, but they were issued.

I love my M-frames now. I might get some half/flak-jackets soon.

A few years ago I bought a "Wiley-X SG-1" and they absolutely sucked.
The fogging is terrible, just use them for 5 minutes and you can't see shit.
With the band, like a google they get inside your eye's orbits becoming really bothering and if you use them in normal lenses mode they get too wide and don't offer lateral protection.

So, avoid them like the plague.

I have been contemplating trying another type of sunglasses so this post is timely.

I currently use and have always used Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

What ever most popular comes out of this tread I will try but they have to be available in prescription too.

I am a fan of Smith Optics Director.  I have them in prescription clear.  They have been durable and held up well to scratching.

My criteria were:
Ballistic rating
Clear & shade lenses.
Unobstructed peripherals.
Outward curving handles.
Holes in the back of handles for retention.
Anti scratch coating.

Note that the "crosshair" model is the budget option and are practically the same, just lower quality lenses simpler frames.
But the no scratch coating is a must for me, so i'm going with crossbow.

Also don't discount their "ICE" model not as cool but still highly rugged...

I jest needed a good pair for range only, so I ordered the ESS Crossbow Suppressor One last night.  Has ClearZone FlowCoat lens treatment, DedBolt Lens Lock, accepts Rx inserts and meets U.S. MIL SPEC and all the other alphabet agency safety standards, eieioooooo. $36 and free ship.

Anxious to try them out, can't thank you enough Burt for help !!

What a crock... ESS out of stock and don't expect to ship for three weeks wtf. Ok Burt let me know how you like them. I couldn't wait that long, headed to range this weekend so I ended up with Wiley X Saber Advanced that was also a 2-Lens Package. They spec the same, even with lens coating for scratch protection. I do like the two lens. Smoke grey for the bright days and light rust for the cloudy.
