A decent topic that may work better than burying caches in the ground. Though with cold weather/snow-prone areas, trying to hack through a foot or two ice would be no easier than digging up supplies buried in frozen ground. You mileage may vary with this one, but presented for your prepping edification.

I would substitute heavy duty zip ties for the stainless steel pipe clamps. They cost less, last longer under water, and don't reflect like shiny metal.
